savage edge trigger fix
« on: May 27, 2010, 05:47:27 PM »
Rifle basix is in the process of making a trigger replacement for the new savage edge rifle that will replace the lawyer trigger on the new rifle.....cost is around 85 dollars and it will bring the trigger pull down 2 pounds and up......They said they were in production now and will have them available very soon...... I spoke to them on the phone........ I own the savage edge and yes, the trigger is about 6 pounds on the pull.......I do get 1 inch groups in the .243 caliber but I really have to "work" to get that tough trigger to break clean and hold the gun on the target....Now, a trigger fix is in the works...... :D :D :D :D :D :D

I talked to Clay 2 days ago and they are also going to get the new mark II non-accutrigger and make a new sear for that also.  when savage changed to the new rimfire E-action they also made a new terrible trigger for it.

It just amazes me that so many gun companies can produce excellent accurate guns but place terrible stiff crappy triggers on them....Regardless if it's a lawyer trigger or not, gun companies should understand accuracy is part of a good trigger and all of them should have a good trigger regardless even if one has to spend a few extra dollars when buying a gun.......

+1
I thought Savage already had that figured-out. That is why they made rifles with the accutrigger, right?   ???

Thanks, Dinny

i didn't think the trigger felt to bad on mine. way better than the h&r i traded in on it. a hair heavy maybe, but clean.
I'm just a bitter Christian clinging to my gun.

IMO/E, the Accutrigger was designed to sell to those who mistake a light trigger pull for a good trigger.  The QC on the accutriggers is just terrible.  Some break cleanly, but a very great many are super creepy and gravelly.  Wear/time only makes them worse.

Hmmm.....never thought of myself being sooo lucky. Four accutriggers in a row over the past few years, and they all break
cleanly, with no creep, no gravelly feeling at all.

Very pleased with my new 223 Edge, one ragged hole,3 shots, at 50 yards. I agree, really needs a trigger improvement though................

Hi.

I have an Edge in .308,  I found that the trigger return spring is rather weighty.  By cutting it down to the point that it safely keeps the returning as it should, I found that I could reduce the pull by 2 pounds.  Still safe and while not a target rifle, It shoots well enough.

That's great!  :)  Out of 6 owned plus a dozen or two more handled, there have been 3 that are really, truly good triggers.  Properly-adjusted 3-screw triggers presently or previously in the cabinet range from as good as to significantly better than all the other Accu-triggers my brother or I have played with.

Not the Edge, but I bought the Stevens 200 last year in 308, the trigger pull was real bad, but an easy fix, this year I bought a Stevens in 22-250 and the trigger is not bad at all on this one, about the same as my old  Rem, Win, Marlin, and Interarms.
