registered on this forum quite awhile ago, and just never participated. I'm on a number of other forums (the 'hunted hare' forum being the one that I am involved with quite extensively. I also realize that this string has nothing to do with what I'm discussing--however since you are from Marathon, it seemed like the ideal place to introduce myself and to get to know others who live by me.
I'm from Marathon, WI (just off of hwy 107, on Evergreen rd.
I have only recently begun running my beagle that was aquired last Oct; he's now 9 mth (June 17).
It may seem odd that I've never hunted with a gun before; however, my son has been doing so for quite awhile. He also traps during the winter months. I've been with him many times while he's hunted small game (squirrel, rabbit, hare, etc.). I have signed up for hunter saftey classes in July, so that I can start hunting. I've no shotgun currently, however I intend aquiring one (20 gauge; single shot or an over-under/side by side) prior to the open season on c.tail. When I complete the course and aquire a shotgun, I wil begin hunting hare (always in season, as you already know, I'm sure).
My son just recently moved to the Hatley area; near 'Leathercamp' FCL. I am quite close to 'Burma' FCL, and have run my beagle there a number of times; the Mead area has also been an area where my son and I have run and hunted.
Leathercamp has been the primary area where I have run hare, and am waiting for the leash law to expire so that I can start to run again. I'm not sure just how many of you run beagles; however I would greatly appreciate feedback by any of you as to who does, and where (how close) they live and also their phone #/ address.
My beagle has just "really come into his own" within the last month, though even when he was 5-6 mth old he had tracked and run c.tails and circled several hare. I've been privelaged to have had the opportunity to have my beagle run with one of the members from the'hunted hare' forum who lives in Antigo.
Should any of you wish to contact me via e-mail or phone, here is the info:
e-mail= parsec2625cubit@msn.com
phone= 443-3035.
I would greatly appreciate it if you would confirm that you are responding from Marathon (or surounding area), so that I don't delete the response without opening the e-mail.
I do know of one of the beaglers that live quite close to me, and have met him and his beagle pack.
I look forward to responding with strings and responses on this forum.
