I have not posted to much since the first of the year on this fourm. I just wanted to fill you guys in on my life a little bit. I pretty much quit drinking since the first of the year I have only had a few drinks since the 1rst. :o ;D Even then it is no where close to the extremes I used to take it to. I am seeing a new pain doctor now and I can keep my back pain under control from the meds he prescribes now instead of drinking myself to a druken stupper every night to control the pain. The first day I went into his office and you know how they take your blood pressure and weight and such. Well I weighed in at a whopping 307 pounds on Feb. 10th. He wrote down in his book that I was morbabley obese. That term hit me hard. I stepped on the same scale today and I weigh 265 pounds for a total loss of 42 pounds since that date. ;D ;D ;D ;D Like I said I pretty much quit drinking and I only eat one time a day now. I eat lunch and don't eat until the next day until lunch. If I go to a fast food place I eat off the dollar menu. If it is Wendy's I order 2 beacon chesse burgers with a side salad and that is all I eat until the next day at lunch. I have heard by a lot of people this is not the way to do it but it sure seems to be working for me. My problem before was I could not drink after eating so I had to be good and drunk then I would eat supper. The thing is that ment I was eating at 10:00 PM to 1:00 AM for my supper and going right to bed on a full stomach. Not a good thing. I have been working for the same guy now for a little over a year now even though I am licenced and insured in Pa. He has given me a $6.00 an hour raise since I have started for him. My 14 year old daughter made cheerleading this year so we are very happy for that. We have had her in gymnastics for a year now so she could make make it this year. ;D ;D Many of you people know that my wife and I take care of my bed ridden mother. She had to go into the hospital a few months ago and spent some time in a care home after her stay at the hospital. She came home last week against doctors orders. I promised her many years ago I would not put her in a home but it is much harder now seeing as she is in diapers now and it is very hard to change her. We hope her insurance company will pay for a mechine that lifts her to make easier. Well that is pretty much what is going on here. Take care Dale

sounds like you are doing well....but i would consult the doctor about your one meal a day thing. I lived like that for a few years and am right on the edge of diabetes......i believe it's a result of going all day without eating and then eating one big meal at night....take care of yourself

Trade those bacon burgers for rabbit food.  You can't get fat on veggies, nuts and fruit.  Go real easy on the dressing.  No bread, no sodas.  I'm not fat and never have been at 6'-2" and about 170 and 67 yrs I can go all day just like when I was 20.

Good to hear you've quit drinking your dinners.

   Glad to hear you are taking control of your drinking and your back pain management. Also good to hear you are loosing some weight, that too will help with your back pain.

  But please look into a proper diet and nutrition plan.  One meal a day, especially of high fats and carb's, is not healthy and will only lead to more and bigger health problems down the road.  Several small healthy meals and healthy snacks a day is much better for you.  Like Magooch suggested eat lots of salads.  Snack on things like fruits, nuts or carrot sticks to keep your blood sugar on an even keel threw out the day.

   Avoid refined sugars. (Cookies, cakes, soda pop, white bread, etc,).  They cause your blood sugar levels to spike and then dive erratically making you feel like crap.   If you drink soda pop, cut back to one or two a day at most or quit entirely.  I drink nothing but water during the day (and lots of it) and have one beer or glass of wine at dinner on the nights I'm home for dinner.  I would rather not drink soda at all than drink diet soda.  I am convinced that the artificial sweeteners that are used in diet sodas are toxic, and the large volume of corn sweetener used in regular soda is not much better.
