If you get a Handi, the greatest difference between a Rossi and an H&R Handi is we're not exporting jobs....Nuf said.

I compared my Handi 270 and new Wizard 270 the other day,, neither shot very well, Handi had aroud an inch group  first 2 shot and 3 or 4 after that and the Rossi shot 3 or 4 inch groups then the last 2 shots were 1 inch. My Savage Edge 223  shot a 5 shot groupyou almost could cover with a dime. I'll keep working with the Rossi and see if it will improve, will get a 30-06 barrel and stick on it and see if it does better........

I did own a Handi once, so I'll chime in.  Mine was a .223 with a short, heavy barrel, and the synthetic stock.  I wanted an easy carrying woodchuck gun, as I was getting tired of carrying 10 lbs plus bolt actions.  The gun seemed like it wanted to shoot, but the trigger was the worse I ever seen on a rifle, making it hard to shoot accurately.  I ended up selling it.  In its defence, a guy at work had the same gun which he had tinkered with, including a lot of trigger work.  It shot MOA, so they will shoot.  As far as action strength, just a look at the calibers they are chambered for suggests they are strong enough.  Now a blow up test with a Handi compared to say a Remington 700 would be interesting.  Anyone want to volunteer a couple test subjects?.... :o

In defense of Handi's, my 223 and 204 fluted Hand's are MOA or less rifles, as are my 35 Whelen and 45-70. My orher Handi's are hit or miss. My Edge's, 223 and 7-08 and my Marlin's 7-08 and 270 $285 and $300 rifles are consistant and acurate.

My son (13) has a handy in super light. We are starting to figure it will hit a quarter at 100 yds. The problem is you have to let it sit for 10 minutes between shots or it will start shooting everything but the bullseye. My cousin has a Rossi in 7.62x39. She says it's a 2" moa. (on a good day) The barrel is loose and wobbly when open. The Handy has a very tight hinge pin and seems better machined. Handi is made in USA.
