Never said Bush didn't do any wrong. Never said BO was the only bad guy. Never said I trust any of those liars. The question was, has the current admin done anything to affect gun right not who do you trust. So I guess you are saying that you completely trust BO with your rights, or are you just arguing for the sake of arguing. I suspect the later, since you couldn't dispute any of my claims only try to change the focus with your answers. I divorced a woman who had arguing as a favorite pass time, I've got better things to do than to waste my time talking to someone whose mind can not be changed.

Actually LabRat2k3, my point was, nothing has really changed all that much since Obama took over. Bush escalated a war that should have never been started by his old man. Started another war that should have been instead "carpet bombing" training camps and will most likely be ABANDONED as unwinnable, after thousands of soldiers die for nothing.
The fact that Obama is a sold out SOB is a known fact, but everyone seems to think we were better off under Bush. I just don't see that, and I certainly don't think McCain would have been any better. He has recently changed horses AGAIN, concerning illegal immigration.
Obama is bad, but I don't think all that worse. I CONSTANTLY hear how he is pro Muslim, and as much as I agree, George Bush got on national TV 3 times and informed everyone that we all worship the same god. I sure don't.
So if you look closer at my post commenting on yours, you would see that we actually agree, with the possible exception of Bush and McCain.

He is busy screwing up other things for the moment, he will get to the guns later & why does anyone think
he would do that before the Nov. elections?

Nomo it's because the Obamites lack the intelligence to see that far ahead. The Obamites are still stuck on blaming W.

Barack Hussein Obama read the numbers and he will use a devious approach such as the UN, to try to grab our guns.
Politically nationalizing our medical system, automobile companies, banks and industry (through cap & trade) has a higher priority with him.
So to, is destroying our voting rights by trying to institute "card check" and starting to move against the first amendment with a push at a "fairness doctrine" (censoring radio).
Just ask yourself; "With all his faults, would McCain been a better prez"?
Of course, there is poetic justice, hopefully the liberal/progressives will be seen by all but the most uninformed, for what they really are..Marxists in freedom coveralls..

BTW: No need to worry, BHO will get to attempting a gun ban as soon as he can..just as he did in Chicago.

  From the Washington Times,

American gun owners might not feel besieged, but they should. This week, the Obama administration announced its support for the United Nations Small Arms Treaty. This international agreement poses real risks for freedom both in the United States and around the world by making it more difficult - if not outright illegal - for law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms.

I read somewhere that Reagan didn't like Bush Sr., but used him as VP to unite the party.  He campaigned hard against Bush Sr. in the primaries.  The Republican Rockafela machine was for Bush.

One of Reagan's campaign  promises was to expose the secret society skull and bones, an elitist fraternity society that had members in very high places. And is said to be in control of certain aspects of the US and world economy. That was hushed and a skull and bones member Bush sr was announced as his running mate. Most of the presidents in recent history were skull and bones members. Many other powerful positions in the country and world are also held by members of this society.

Reagan was a mostly middle leaning conservative with some leftist views. Bush sr. was a Leftist with some middle leaning views. Not a very good match to get along.

Just curious.  Is the Washington Times still owned by the Reverand Sun Yung Moon?  You know, the founder of the Moonies?  You don't hear much about the Moonies any more.  It used to be the airports were full of them.

I think part of the problem we run into is that we usually ASSume Republican=Conservative and Democrat= Liberal...and this isn't always true. Dubya may have been conservative on certain social issues but he was hardly a fiscal conservative or he wouldn't have bankrupted the country and gotten us heavily into debt with China to prosecute 2 ill advised wars. Dubya blew through money like a drunken sailor on shore leave.

Really?  So history's not important?  Who owns the media isn't important?  Past behaviour is the best predictor of future behavior.  Case in point: You all are predicting Obama's plans for global gun control based on his past associations and his skimpy voting record which is  (gasp!) HISTORY!  And you don't think who OWNS a media source has any bearing on their bias?  Whoever controls the media, controls public perception.  Without a clear historical perspective and the ability to "follow the money" you'll be clueless to cut thru the bulls--t in the storm of media infotainment.
Regarding gun control: don't focus so much on democrats that you're blindsided by threats to your civil rights from the republicans. Major threats to our gun rights have occured under Nixon, Reagan, George the First and George the Second.

amen, perhaps voting party isn't the most responsible action every time. I know the Republican who just won the local special election is pro-choice, anti-gun. Perhaps this would be good to remember at the next ballot box? A vote against a Democrat is not necessarily a vote to protect your 2nd amendment rights, or the rights of the unborn.

The south was all Democrat at one time, because of the War of Northern Aggression, and later because FDR spent a lot of money building dams and electrifying rural south.  Therefore until the 1990's Democrats run the house and senate except for a couple of years in the 50's under Eisenhower.  So with Reagan and the Liberals taking over the Democrat party with Clinton, most southern Democrats switched parties to the Republican party.  Old guard Republicans were for the rich corporate owners and Wall Street.  Reagan Republicans and Southern Republicans are conservative, against big government, for gun rights mostly.  However, there are some RINO's in the northern and west coast, as there are a very few conservative Democrats in western and southern states.

Problem is the ruling party of the house and senate sets the leadership and sets who the want in the committees.  That sets the aganda.  The conservative leadership on Newt Gingrich worked well in the 90's to keep Clinton at bay, but new leaders after 2000 were more moderate, thus the problems.

First you have to get the house and senate back under at least Republican leadership, then make sure in the Primaries vote for the most conservative cantidate.  Same in presidential elections.

"Past behaviour is the best predictor of future behavior". It sure is and I looked at Obummer's record in Ill, as anti-gun as they get. It is true that some gun control is tried in every admin,(whether the Pres. took part or not) in the past there were not enough Dems & RINO's to take us down, yet.

Gun control ? Have we forgot the ammo shortage ?

Funny, whether you like him or not, I think BO has done more for the firearm industry than any other President before him. It's one of the few  industries that has not slowed down and layed off employees since he took office. Most ammo and component manufacturers are running 24/7 and still can't keep up with demand. The amount of new firearms being purchased is staggering. Never before have so many non-gunowners bought their first gun or have so many previous gun owners bought guns they didn't need, just cause they could. Never has new membership been so high for the NRA and other gun-support organizations. Two years ago Bud's and Davidson's had virtually any gun in stock that was currently being produced. Now go there and see what they have. It has nuttin' to do with restrictions or bans. Folks that can't afford a new car are findin' the monies to stock up on ammo, when they can find it. Beside helping to stimulate the economy, all this increased interest by everyday civilians legally owning guns and aggressively supporting the right for others to legally own them, makes the probability of increased control and restrictions less than ever before.....not only at the national level, but at the local level too.   Power to the people!!

It's easier to vote with the herd I'll give you that, but seldom right. Our system was designed for people who vote on ideal, not pragmatism. Even foreigners recognized that. Pity so many have forgotten.

But TN, where is an "ideal" to be found today?

I saw no option on my ballot for the ideal nor the pragmatic so I opted for the 'protest' and voted for Nader.

I think the pity is that so many have forgotten that there's an option to reject the dominant parties at the polls.
