7400/740/742 30-06 Question

Anybody shooting milsurp ammo in their Remington 30-06? How's performance? I've recently got it in my head to get a semi-auto in 30-06, and would probably want to get ammo from the CMP to shoot in it.

I have a 742 I purchased in 1967.  I shot some surplus ammo in the 70s I remember.  I've reloaded mil brass as well in 30-06 and necked some down to 25-06.  OK if all you want to do is burn some powder.
