Remington R25 or DPMS LR308 18"bull ?

I can purchase a camo R25 in 308 for $1400 or a DPMS LR308 18" Bull for $1200.
I would be using as back up SHTF and or hunting in New England for all medium/large game.
I want something that will be accurate to 400 yrds.  Vermont hay fields, NH power lines.
The bull is heavy, but is the accuracy worth the extra weight?
There are also two Non bull DPMS LR308 18" for $1100 and $1200.  no big difference on the options. Typical adjustable stock.
Looking on input if I should pay extra for non-black Remington name with longer barrel?.

I don't think it make a spits worth of difference. Think about it, if you had the choice between a 20" and an 18" bolt gun, which would you choose??  Buy the one that fits you and that you like!

Ive got a 16 inch dpms sportical. It shoots under an inch at a 100 yards with loads it likes (which is most) Its allready a heavy gun and i wouldnt want even another once to carry around. Personaly id pass on a ar10 bull barrel gun unless all your going to do is sit at the range and punch paper.

I have a DPMS 308 B with an 18'' bull barrel it is a tack driver for sure. But it is heavy, only hunted varmints which doesn't include a lot of walking. I would have to do some serious thinking if I were to use it for big game. Or anything where I had to carry it a lot.

I would take a look at Rock River Arms LAR-8 if you don't mind the wait. They actually are cheaper, and very accurate, comes with a MOA guarantee. I ordered a ar15 and it was $250 less than what they advertise, even with extras added on and it also shoots better than 1 moa.

Had my 16 inch gun out yesterday trying some differnt loads and shot two 3 shot 100 yard groups into a 1/2 inch with sierra 150 flat base spitzers and a full case of 414 and a ww primer. Not to shabby for a 16 inch battle rifle!!

The R-25 can be found for 1200 if you look really hard and wait, the 308B can be had for around $1000 on gunbroker any day of the week.  Both of these guns are DPMS, one is stamped remington.

I used to have a 308B and it shot 1/2" at 100 yards with match ammo.  I never tried any hunting ammo other than to break it in.  Keep in mind that both of these guns will need a trigger job or replacement.  DPMS makes really bad heavy gritty triggers.  If you want to know what those two guns are capable of, you'll need a new trigger, which will bring the price back up at least another $100.  I put a timney drop in trigger in the 308 I had and it was an outstanding rifle, then again I only used it at the shooting bench.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd get the R-25.  The camo is going to make it more acceptable in a hunting camp, but will also be nice if the SHTF like you're talking.  It also has the A3 upper with the dust cover and forward assist.  You could put a decent hunting scope on it with quick release rings, and some flip up iron sights and have the whole package that's ready for anything.  I think you'd be very happy with either rifle, but the R-25 would slightly edge out the 308b for me.
