I have a Kimber 8400 in .300 WSM on order. Kimber says that it will be available some time after the first of the year. In anticipation, I was looking at getting a scope for it.
For those of you who don't know, Kimber rifles are much lighter than most factory rifles. As such, buying a heavy scope with huge objectives and a 30mm tube would defeat its purpose.
Keeping in mind that this would be my elk gun (for if and when I need to hunt elk and thus hike up and down the mountains), I need a good quality scope.
I was considering the Leupold Vari-X III 2.5x-8x-36mm, the Nikon Monarch 3x-9x-40mm, the Zeiss Conquest 3x-9x-40mm, and the Elite 4200 2.5x-10x-40mm.
I finally decided on the Elite 4200 2.5x-10x-40mm. As many of you know, I am a big fan of Elites and Nikon Monarchs. The Monarch is lighter, but the Elite has rainguard - which might come in handy when hunting elk up in the mountains. Another reason that I got the Elite is because Bushnell is offering their free rain parka deal again.
Well, I ordered the scope from Jon at The Optic Zone and it arrived today. I was actually surprised that it arrived as soon as it did because his wife Tammi just had the baby around the same time. In any event, what can I say about the scope that I haven't said already?....The Elites truly are elite. They have sharp resolution, excellent clarity, and are very bright. I can't wait to mount it on my Kimber when I get it.
Thanks again Jon!
