Feeler gauge for barrel swap?

I am swapping out the barrel on my 44 mag. I know the kits used to come with a feeler gauge of some sort to measure the space between the cylinder and barrel when swapping them out. Can anyone tell me offhand the thickness that the gauge needs to be? I don’t have that gauge.

Some in IMHSA would keep the gap as close as they could as long as the cyl. didn't touch the bbl. and bind when hot .

I am not in IMHSA but do keep the gap set closer than recomended,and like you said as long as the barrel dont drag there is no problem,mine came new with exesive gap and I closed it up a little more than recomended with no problems.

you can get one at your local auto parts store, it needs to have the fold out blades.
