I am seriously thinking about ordering one of these Monday. They look good on the Henry site, and they shoot shorts longs, and long rifles. Does anyone have one, and what do you guys think of the Henry 22lr rifles in general?

Dee, I don't own one but a friend does, and he swears by it.  Carries it around his farm with him in an ATV every day for the last year or so.  Has eliminated a lot of vermin with it.

Thanks mechanic, I'm kickin it around, and even thinkin about sellin my M4 which I almost never shoot. It would be a replacement. I like the idea of a 22 that will shoot shorts, longs, and long rifles, like rifles USED TO.

I have one of the Henry Pump action .22's and I love it. Action is tight and it is accurate! Wouldn't trade it for nuthin'!

i was at a walmart in AZ a while back and they had one of the Henry 22's on the rack....H001 @ $279 i think. I asked to see it and he handed it over with a trigger lock on it and the lever banded to the stock...i asked him to remove the band so i could cycle the action and he said that was impossible. Only after the sale outside the store would i be allowed to cycle the action. Nice little 22 but it didn't go home with me....and thanks for being a generous man,Dee :D

I have a round barreled Henry 22 that I have had about 5 years. I love it and it shoots great. It won't stand beside my Win. 9422M, but it will shoot minute of squirrel head at 50 yards.

I have the octagon barreled Henry. It is a nice little rifle. The action is slick and locks up with a positive audible click. It just sounds like it was built well. I put a Williams reciever sight on it and replaces the rear with a folding blade from a 10/22. The front was replaced with a Williams fire sight. It is very accurate. Mine even shoots a mixed magazine full of Long rifles Longs and shorts with out a hiccup.

It's a nice rifle with a nice walnut stock. I think you would be happy with one.

I even have the Henry AR-7 style rifle and I am very happy with it as well. Henry is a great company as far as I am concerned.

I've been hunting with a peep-sighted H001 Standard Henry for the last 3 years w/o issue, liking it very much (they ALL take Short/L/LR).

Last Fall I ran across a NIB H001T Octagon Frontier for $250, and thought I'd try it out, since I'd heard so much about the model and had such excellent results from my older Henry standard.

I installed a set of fiber-optic front/rear sights on it, since I already had a peeped henry (the receiver covers interchange, if I wanted to peep the H001T), but it really didn't shoot any better than the standard, even though I accuracy-tested it with about 12 different brands/types of ammo - so I sold it this March.

Sooooo, I WOULD recommend one, for anyone who didn't already own another Henry rifle - but not for an existing Henry owner, unless simply another rifle acquisition was what was wanted.

I had a feeling what you just said would be the case. The only criticism I have ever heard about the Henrys is their weight, and I will say their 3030 is heavy but, to me a 7 pound rifle is a good thing.

I won an octagon barrelled 22 the other year. It was a beautiful gun. The action was as smooth as I ever worked in a lever action. Unfortunately the drop of the stock was a little too much for my frame (5'5"). I would have loved to keep it. An outstanding example of AMERICAN! craftsmanship.

What exact model Henry did you win ?

FWIW, all octagon-barreled Henry's aren't created equal.

While both the octagon-barreled Frontier and the octagon-barreled Golden Boy use the same barrels, the receiver's rear tangs differ between the two rifles enough, so that the GTB has markedly more drop to the stock than the Frontier.

As a result, the GB and the Frontier do not feel/handle/sight/shoot alike.

Dee....did you get one of those Henry Frontier octagon 22's yet? I sold my last 22 rifle about 2 years ago....i must have been out of my mind at the time ::). That frontier is a darn good looking rifle....and it's calling me("Buy me,Mike, she'll get over it"). So far i'm fighting it off pretty good...but if you get one that'll pretty much put me over the top. At least then i can say" it's not really my fault...it was this guy from Texas I met on the internet" :D. Good luck on your frontier purchase....hope to hear about it soon.

I bought a used ar-7 or whatever they are called, at a gun show & it did not work right.  Henry Arms sent me a new one free.  So I got a Golden Boy at a RMEF dinner.  I put one of those brass peeps on it & it works well enough to hunt with.  (I can't see the sights much anymore).

So then a friend and I each bought those H0001 .22s.   I shot a cloverleaf at a measured 50 yards with mine,  scoped over bags, that was very close to a round hole.  Have not been able to do it again.  I have never shot a 3 shot group that small before with Anshutzs, Sakos or anything else.

The action feeds flawlessly EVERY time.  The trigger is a bit stout.  The rifles don't have one of those stupid safetys like Marlins, S&W, Remingtons, etc.

They are made in the USA by Americans.  Buy several.
Vote them all out, EVERY election!

Does anyone remember the scene from "Quigley Down Under" showing the aborigines lined up on the skyline as far as you could see?   That needs to be US!
