I think if I had a lot of money it would be nice to own one. However, there is not a way that it is more accurate than my .17HMR from Savage.
The combination of barrel twist and the .17hmr round is about as close to perfect out of the box as you can get.
I can put shots through a dime size hole at 100 yards with my Savage all day. I ain't that good! The barrel and round combo is just nearly perfect.
This is a common refrain among .17hmr owners. There are always a few lemons, but the vast majority of them are very accurate out of the box.
The other issue is that there will be very little variance in the ammo. Much above or below a 17 grain bullet and the accuracy and or velocity suffers.
From a whats it good for perspective it is an excellent sub 100 yard varmint rifle. Relativly low noise for a 2500 fps round but as important the bullet is only 17 grains. There are people shooting coyotes with the .17hmr but I don't think that is an appropriate use for the round.
A lot of people dismiss the round as inferior to a .22 mag. It may be. But for accuracy it can't be beat.
