.410 Tamer came home with me
« on: June 05, 2010, 03:25:36 PM »
Couldn't resist any longer the siren song of this little .410. Hope to pattern it soon with 3-inch shot loads and some 2.5-inch No. 8 target loads, as well test the accuracy of Winchester slugs. I have high hopes, but may try to figure out some sort of simple rear sight to help with the slugs. Will also look at attaching a sling. The butt stock will be easy, but not so sure about the forend without maybe some JB Weld or something besides polymer for the screw to bite into.
Anyone with Tamer experience is welcome to chime in.
Bill

For the front sling mount I'd use a Uncle Mike's barrel band to attach it.  Just measure the diameter of the barrel in the area you want to attach it and order the appropriate size.

I use them on several shotguns and rifles and never had a problem with them.

Had a Tamer some years ago. It was a snakes nightmare. Also owned a Snake Charmer but liked the Tamer better.

Spruce: I have used the Uncle Mike's barrel band swivels with complete satisfaction as well. They're getting hard to find without ordering over the Net, though, so I was wondering about ways to attach a standard swivel to the forend.

bill, we have several tamer stock sets on various handi calibers. 45/410, 17hm2, 22lr/410vp, 22mag/vp(rc) and a 20ga. my grandkids really like the tamer stocks.... and me too !!! .460/410 in reduced load .460 (my tractor blaster)  ;D
all of them have the same forend, if you look inside the forend about 3" in front of the forend screw hole
there is a plastic raised boss there... drill it out smaller than a sling stud screw and thread it in.
we have 2 like that. and it works real good.  just don't drill the pilot hole too big.
i don't like attaching anything to the barrel.  but, thats just me ;)

i guess your forends are the same as the ones they have previously made in the past like ours...

i did change the forend on my tractor blaster to a new style checkered synthetic
and the 17hm2 forend to one of them ati tacticle forends. which don't have studs, but are stud ready if needed

we like the stocks !!!!
