Only have two Contender barrels now, 23 inch 22 LR match from TC and a 16 1/4 inch 7.62 x 39 with a .311 bore from MGM. My other three toys are Encores in a 23 inch .308, 20 inch 500 S&W magnum and a 13 inch 460 S&W magnum with a muzzle brake. Haven't shot the little guys much since I started slinging big hunks of lead.

10" bull 223 rem w/2-6x32 Simmons - I'm partial to the 10" tubes anyway, and this one is just fun, fun, fun.
14" 7-30 Waters w/4x32 Simmons - My most accurate or second behind the 10" 223 ......and it packs a good punch.
10" octagon 22 lr w/open sights - What more need be said.  I love these octagon barrels too!
10" bull 357 Herrett w/2x20 Leupold - For when I'm in the mood for more recoil but not quite up to the 44 Mag.  I'd like to take this one hog hunting.
14" 22 lr w/2.5-10x50 RIFLE scope - The second rimfire to make the list despite having six more barrels.  From the bench this one is just too much fun!!!

I also have two 44 mag barrels (one octagon, one 10" bull) that get worked pretty regularly........well, the bull barrel does.  I'm seldom in the mood for the punishment the 44 octagon dishes out with full power loads.  For that barrel it may be time to try some of the reduced loads I've been reading others talk about on here.

My 256 octagon was once in my top favorites, but the .223 kind of does everything it does a little better.  A very neat cartridge though.  I'll still never part with it because it was on my very first Contender and it is the caliber that pushed me into hand loading  (you can see what that led to).

I'm still trying to find "the" load for my 30 Herrett and haven't even had time to work up any loads at all for either my 6 TCU or 7 TCU.  Despite that, I'm still itching for another addition to the herd.  I don't know what that will be, but I'll know it when I see it.  Maybe something on the big bore end like 375 Winchester ...........or something on the other end like a nice 17 remington, who knows?

Curtis
Lord, please help me to be half the man my dogs think I am.

Contender in 17 Rem, 22lr, 22k Hornet, 223 Rem, 256 WM, 6TCU, 7TCU, 7-30, 30 Herrett, 300 Whisper, 30-30 AI, 357 mag, 357 Herrett, 375 JDJ, 44 mag, 45/410..... so far.

I only have 3 Contender barrels right now.

1) 21" .22 K-Hornet from Ed's Contenders, marked T/C Custom Shop.  I forget exactly which scope I bought to put on this one, but I think it was a Bushnell.
2) 14" 7-30 Waters barrel with 7x Burris scope
3) 14" .223 Remington barrel with 2-7x Simmons scope and what looks like (but may not be) a Bullberry brake.

I really don't like the .223 barrel, predominantly because of the brake.  I dislike muzzle brakes in general, and especially on a gun that doesn't kick enough to justify it, but the .223 barrel is the one that came with my first frame, which is why I have it.  I may eventually get around to selling/trading it off to finance (in part or whole) the acquisition of a 10" .32 H&R, .256 Winchester Mag, .22 Jet, or maybe .218 Bee barrel, but I haven't decided which one to start with.

223—16”…
30-30—Super 14”…
445 SM—Super 14”
22LR Match—Super 14” (Now that I finally got it to function as ADVERTISED on ONE of my several frames)…

10" bull 32-20 w/4x Leupold
10" bull 22mag w/2x(?)TC scope
10" bull 357Max w/4x Leupold
23" bull 22LR match w/3-9 Leupold
23" bull 223 w/3-9 Burris

Presently working on/with a 10" octagon 22 Jet barrel, think it's a keeper.

#1 is easy. It's been the same for 'bout 20 years now.  14" SSK 6.5JDJ.  It's the one they'll pry out of my cold stiff fingers.
#2 may have changed over time but not much.  A .22lr of some kind. Right now a TC S-16 .22lr with 3-9 rifle scope setting in see thru mounts.
#3 is easy too.  A S-14 45-70.  More fun than is describable and VERY versatile... AND keeps me prepared for the return of Tyronasaurus Rex(and I ain't foolin').
#4 A 10" 30Herrett.  This one was #1 from it's acquisition(1974) until the current #1 showed up(1990).
#5 A S-14 in 17HMR.  FUN...To understand one only needs to bust a crow square in the chest at about 85 yds.
Honorable mention: 14" SSK 309JDJ, 10" octagon 218Bee, 10" octagon 256Win(my first barrel) and a 14" TC 375Win(been moving UP the list quickly of late). ;D

David D,
Wow!  That there's some eye candy.  Thank's for sharing.

My top 5 favs:

(1) Texas Contenders 23" 30Herrett
(2) Shilen custom 15" 30 Herrett
(3) Shilen custom 14" 44 mag.
(4) T/C 14" 222 Rem.
(5) T/C 10" bull 22 Hornet

Didn't realize how hard it would be to pick just 5 favs, but it just happens that I have five frames and I would have to say the ones I have mounted on frames which haven't been changed for several years would have to be my favorites.
