"BP says the majority of oil is being captured now"

Just read this on MSN. It said they were capturing 10,000 barrels a day. Funny, when the news was reporting how much was flowing into the ocean it was in gallons which sounds much worse than barrels. 420,000 gallons of oil being captured sounds like a lot more than 10,000 barrels to most people. Maybe I'm just over critical of the news media but it seems they try to put everything in the worst context they can and when something positive happens they downplay it all they can.

 I think it is producing more BS than oil. Can't understand if they know the pressure and the pipe size why they can not give a definite amount +or - 10%

They are have pressure tranmitters on the BOP that tell the pressure of the well.  They are unable to acurately able to get a flow rate due to the unkown amount of restriction in the BOP.  They can get a ball park figure but that is all.

 Just to add, its not only oil but also gas coming out so that would have to be in the total?

They are now claiming they are catching 75% of the oil.  Hay, that means there is still a lot of oil escaping.  They also said if a storm comes along they will have to unplug and stop the recovery.  And the weather Service is predicting a record number of storms this season.  I for one want to see it stopped, period.

Anything else is unacceptiable.
