Where have you been?
« on: June 08, 2010, 06:01:18 AM »
What is the farthest location that you have lived from your place of birth?

For me, city of Wakkanai on the island of Hokkaido in Japan!

Most beautiful place you've ever been to?

For me, Turkey Run State Park in Indiana and the Blue Grotto on the Isle of Capri (Italy), followed closely by The Valley of the Rocks in Devonshire, England.

Where was the 'prettiest girl' you ever saw?  (Excluding your wife or immediate family, of course....)

For me, a Sabra in Israel in military uniform (of all things!)

Where did you get the best dog you ever owned?

"Becky", a Jack Russell Terrier from Michigan.

Interesting set of questionis.  Anything "meaningful" being tested by these?

What is the farthest location that you have lived from your place of birth?  If living on a boat for months on end counts - then it is McMurdo Station, Antarctica

Most beautiful place you've ever been to?  Howland and Baker Islands, Pacific Ocean, International Dateline at the Equator.  Not much more than a 1-2 foot atoll above the waterline with no trees or structures - just a dirt runway for Phillipines and Asia-bound American WWII aircraft, but WHAT a waterline it was!!!  And the FISHING!  To die for...

Where was the 'prettiest girl' you ever saw?  (Excluding your wife or immediate family, of course....)  The suntanned, brunette, Brittish girl I danced the night away with on Suva, Fiji, and never got her name...followed a close second by the flaming red haired Ticket Girl at the Ice Skating Rink in Virginia Beach, VA.  I could have lived with either of them for the rest of my life.  Puppy Love is FOREVER.

Where did you get the best dog you ever owned?  He was a "gift" from someone literally dumping him as a puppy out of their car door at my grandparents rural home.  "Tramp" became the family's stellar Beagle.  True to each of us, he would hunt and fish with me all day, every day, dawn to dusk, and twice on Sunday.  He would wait for my GrandDad every business day, knowing within 10 minutes of his arrival when to trot up the 200 yard dirt driveway, early or late.  How that dog "knew" the timing has always been a mystery.

Best dog was a border collie cross that was easily the best.
She picked up new things extremely quick and was a solid hunting buddy.

Well I would say if this was a contest I have it won :-)
I worked in a town called Belovo in Siberia  for a while. It was 12 time zones from my home here in Florida. The first time I went over I left Miami it was 80 F and 2 days later I landed and it was -20 F, Talk about a shock.
Over a 2 year time I spent about 6 months there or so.
It was within maybe 100 miles from the other side of the earth :-)

If you goggle Belovo it will show you where I was. We was building American homes for a mine over there. That was back Right after they opened up over there. Matter of fact my dad was already on the way to the job site and was in Moscow when they was bombing what they call their white house it is like our capital.
I spent a total of maybe 10 days or so in Moscow over them 2 years sight seeing and all. One time our hotel over looked red square.

I forgot to add,
The coldest I seen over there was 40 below the 2nd week in Nov. The summer time was great maybe in the high 70s during the day. I was running every thing under ground and even in summer had to wear a coat at all times.

Lived in four towns and none were over 200 miles from by birthplace.

Have never owned a dog that was for sale.  Best dog ever is a blue heeler I got at 6 months from a rescue place.

Thinking of sending my wife to that town in Russa.  Hope her credit cards and cell phone don't work there.
