Shipping Bullets Lubed with LBT SoftBlue

    I want to send some of my 280 LFN bullets to a cousin to try in his rifle... he reloads, but doesn't have access to a lubesizer... What is the best method of shipping bullets lubed with Soft Blue so that they don't end up in a mess?  I was thinking of lining up about 10 end to end and wrapping in either aluminum foil or saran wrap, then rolling in newspaper?  You can tell I'm a rookie at this... I have shot up my lubed bullets as fast as I got them loaded... I love that mold... thanks for a great product.

I have shipped lubed cast Boolits all over the country. What I do is, go to my local Good Will and buy them out of tin boxes that Christmas candy and cookies come in as well as small jewelry boxes for watches and bracelets and such. As I size them, I stand them on their bases in nice neat rows until the box is full. If there is room for a second layer, I cut a piece of shoe box card board, lay it on top of the first layer and keep going.. If you do a good job of placing them in the box, they wont shift and all the lube will be in place when it arrives.
If the box is too big for a snug fit (too small for one more row, and too big for them to be tight) just insert cardboard strips along the edge to fill it out.

  Justin,  Your only error, in my not very humble opinion, was in informing how to send Boolits.  The question was about bullets!

  But the advise was excellent and precisely what I would have written, except to also suggest styrofoam sheets as spacers top and bottom if the box has only one layer of bullets.  It gives too much if the box is multi layered and real heavy, as the shippers all throw packages around pretty hard.  Lowest shipping cost will be by Mail using  priority boxes with fixed rates, which allow anything you can stuff into the box as long as weight doesn't exceed 70 pounds, with some sizes of box.  I've bought lead that way.

the trays out of boxes of pistol ammo work well. also the boxes from pyrodex pellets. and both can usually be picked up for free at most ranges if you don't shoot enough yourself to already have a supply. my opinion and you're welcome to it, bubba.

Anyway,  Thanks to all for your suggestions... I just shipped the "boolits" out today...since they were cast using one of Veral's molds, they must be "boolits"...  I had to change plans a little to use the shipping boxes furnished by the Post Office... I think a whole lot of my cousin, but couldn't see filling up one of the bigger boxes with lubed & sized boolits that he may not shoot that often... so I settled on the smaller box... in it I put 50 in one of those plastic divided cartridge boxes(put cut cardboard on top to fill up any voids.. then I rolled 8 boolits in note paper, making several wraps... looked like big cigarettes... then rolled 5-6 of these in newspaper... took three of them to fill the big voids in the box... fit very snug....  Postmaster was on his toes noticing the weight for such a small package...I explained that it was only "boolits" not loaded ammo..(he already knows where I get my packages from(Midway, Midsouth,Ballistic Products, LBT,..etc)

PS... Veral, I got out to the range briefly this morning... the 280 LFN's are working well... had 4 different goups running @ 1.5" @ 100 yds... they definitely shot better with your soft blue lube than the other stuff that was in the sizer... didn't chrono, but was up to 24.5 gr H110 with no problems...

For what it's worth, what works best for me is to use a seal-a-meal vacuum packer. I make an open sided bag, then fill with rows, then seal. Keeps the bullets in place and several bags can be taped together if necessary to make a larger package and they don't shift around. I haven't lost bullets in the mail since I started using this method.

Bubba, some of the Boolits I sent you were more than likely packaged as I described.
Any problem with any lube gettin knocked out of them?

hey justin, boolits arrived in great shape with all the lube where it'uz 'sposed to be. meant to mention that when i made the above post(ol'timers hits when ya least expect it). also, most'a them little boxes got used again too . have a good'en neighbors, bubba.

Boolits, and some call them 'heads'.   Guess I'll know better than knock 'heads' with you again.

  Reminds me of a carpenter I worked with many years ago.  His talk was a stream of four letter words.  One day my companion worker said to him.  Seems like half the words you say are cuss words.  His answer was, "Damn near!"     Exactly 50-50.   But you fell short.  I noticed at least three more places where you could have used the forum name in your response!

I thought you, like myself, didn't appreciate the term Boolits?     Heck, I wouldn't even use it on that forum!
