Finished my rifle
« on: June 09, 2010, 09:23:56 AM »
Bought a savage 7-mm mag last year and just couldn't leave it stock. It has a Millet TRS-1 4x16-50 power scope, Dead nutz 30mm high scope rings, A caldwell 9x13 adjustible bipod, A basix trigger turned down to 2 3/4 pounds, and a Mcmillan A-5 tactical stock. Had to wait 16 weeks for the stock to be made and shipped. Well worth it. What a difference it makes when you are behind the trigger on a magnum rifle.

In 1970 the 1000-yard Wimbledon match was won with a 7MM Remington Magnum using a Sierra 168-grain Match King bullet. Your rifle looks like a winner

Good looking rifle.  My son has a Savage 7mm Mag with a heavy barrel.  He shoots 140 grain Noslers over IMR 4831.  Very accurate combination.  Under an inch at 300 yards.

Get a longer bolt handle and it will smooth up the action feel. Get either a tactical or BT style handle. I prefer the BT style. Oh, and that is one good looking gun. Just curious, how much does it weigh as it sets in the pictures?

PawPaw, Sorry it took so long to respond.Been busy and have not had to much pc time. Right now as it sits the gun weighs 12.6 lbs. It will go up a bit more because I will add a heavy barrel when I burn out the stock one that's on it.

Siskiyou, You are so right it was won with a 7MM Mag rifle by a Navy man, i believe he was a second class. As I was in the seabees. I just had my 7MM Mag re-barreled with a shilen match grade hand lapped barrel, action trued and blue printed what a shooter. If I learn to use this new camera I will take a picture. Lou

ourway77:  Get your camera working, would like to see the rifle and the groups it produces.

More to the Navy than some people think.  My Uncle was a Seabee during WWII and was a bulldozer operator on the Island of Iwo Jima during the invasion.

Thank-you for your service.
