Need Opinion on the H&R 929 Revolver

Before you all start shooting this little one down, let me say that I am considering it for a two fold reason. Errrr,,,,threefold, third being the price.
First and foremost is that my wife was raised by a bunch of tree kissers who shudder to think of anything that goes "boom, bang, or pop". The only thing they have ever hunted was some hamburger meat in the meat department. They would make sure it was very lean and healthy. You get the type. Anyway, I am a 'gun nut' and have increased my inventory recently and want her to be involved.
At first it was almost an impossibility but when we went to the gun guy I know he showed her this little piece and she actually fired it. It has a very slight report and no recoil at all. She said it was something that she would consider.
Second is that my dad bought me a HandR Topper 16 g. single shot shotgun about a hundred years ago as my first gun and I still have it functioning as well as when it was new. The name kinda reminds me of a warm and fuzzy spot in my past.
The price, oh yeah, it is either new or almost mint and he only needs $75.00 for it. Here is a picture of it.

It is still in the box and has an owner's manual with it.
I simply want to know if it is gonna blow up on her or something. It is nothing but a stepping stone for her and I fully intend on getting her a Smith .38 snubby as soon as she gets used to the 'sound thing'.
Give me some pros and cons on this one and be gentle, OK?

If that's the gun she wants, that's what I'd get! Those are good little tackle box guns & plinkers. They are a little hard to shoot accurately due to the barrel length and the lack of sights. Just keep the targets close and big and she'll have a lot of fun shooting it! I would reccoment a reactive target of some type. Ballons are good. That puts a lot more fun into it, when she can see something happening when she shoots! I've put a wheelbarrow load of ammo thru H&Rs when I was a lad, hated to see them go.

Had me one of them guns a few years ago.  4" bbl.  Was a good shooter and enjoyable.  It also fit the small hands of my wife well.  Ran into a friend of mine who just happened to own my first .22 rifle (Winchester 55).  Traded him to get it back.  He still has the H&R and enjoys shooting it very much.  Buy it, enjoy it, shoot it.

I've had 3 h&R's and still own two.  They are decient little guns even if not "target " quality.  ( I have a similar 2" H&R in .32 S7W that will shoot pop cans regularly  at 20-25' or so. )  I think you answered your own question. If the wife likes it and it's only $75 what is the point in debating. Just get it. It will be a positive intro to shooting.  If she takes a liking to it and wants eihter more power or more accuracy , it will always make a good knocking around toy.  

p.s. I'd feed that gun std or subsonic velocity to start ( if not shorts) . it will keep noise and muzzle flash down in the beginning. I would'nt feed it stingers /velocitors at any point .

About targets.  Awhile ago I got some of the "Sabertooth Cockroach" targets from Lyman/Ideal.  When they got in and I showed them to LOML her reaction was "At last, something I want to shoot!"

I bought a 929 sidekick in 1960 and I must have killed 100's of squirells with it. The most accurate round was the shorts. I still have the thing but hav'nt shot it in probably 20 yr's.    Digger

That's a good deal. I paid 125 for an nef r92 nine shot a year ago at a dealers. Can't hit the side of a barn with it. Fixed sights. Some rust. Needed cleaned. Needs a good gunsmith to sight it in or maybe re pin the barrel? Not a good deal for me. Yours sounds a whole lot better. Better get it or someone else will. Unless the barrel is plugged , or the timing is way off, it won't blow up.
