Reading the previous post "Minimalist Fishing" brought back SWEET memories of my youth. I would load up with a single shot .22,a candy bar, maybe a can of Vancamps Beans and the last section of a fishin pole and about 6' of line and a pill bottle of hooks and splitshot and a small bobber. Walk a 1/2 mile down the road(Back then people didn't come unglued if they seen a 13 year old walkin down the road with a gun)to the Crick and wade down stream a good ways till you get to your favorite hole. Now this hole was in a bend and a Big Cottonwoods roots at the edge.
This spot was full of Chubs,Suckers and Sunfish. I would get there and turn over logs and rocks looking for bait. Didn't need many cause after catching a few Fish I used them for cut bait. Pulled them in one after another,Size didn't matter they were all trophys to me. If I got thirsty I would lay on my belly and get a drink. Alot of times a Crow or Chipmunk or a Groundhog would come to get a drink and became a Target. Never took a Radio, Nature was singing my song. I feel sorry for many of our youngsters who don't have a chance to ever have memories like that.
Thanks Jeff
