I was doing a search one day several months ago, and ran across Brodie Swisher from Stevensville, MT.  Brodie does http://www.realitybowhunting.com and then I did some more searching and found http://www.brooutdoors.com/categories/home/home.htm the dates for the MT Youth Bowhunter Camp in Libby, MT which is just up the hwy from me about 40 miles where they hold the camp at.

This is so awesome, because as a Bowhunters Education Instructor we only get class time with Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks, and with the camp we get hands on for almost 5 full days.  I am so stoked about this, that its not funny.

I had an awesome week, and several of the kids took to the Selfbow more than the modern compounds that they were introduced to.  Many of them came up to me and begged everyday to shoot the Selfbow, after I demonstrated my shooting with my Longbow.  I can't wait for the week of July 5th - 9th.

Look close and you can see the arrow flying

Getting lined up here.....

I think what I'm going to do is get some http://www.woodbows.com/products.html that are Rough and Ready English Style Longbows, so a right or left handed shooter can use them.  I had more shooters wanting to use the traditional longbow more than the compounds.

I'm going to be looking for donated longbows too.   ;D

Awesome!  I love to see young folks learning to shoot the way we were all meant to learn.  Cotton you did good my friend.  Anyone that takes the time so show kids about our great sport, is taking time to ensure the future is brighter!!!!!!!

Thanks guy's.  I have decided to sell the 60# Longbow that I have to fund getting more bows thru Woodbows.com as my 45# Selfbow was not enough bow to go around.  I have actually sent Woodbows a email to see if they would donate a few bows for the camp weeks.  I still have one more week in July to go, and would love to show the 13-15 yr olds the traditional way of the bow, preferably the longbow.

Cottonwood sounds like great fun for kids and a great learning oppurtunity. Good luck!
