Accessory barrel program
« on: June 11, 2010, 07:20:32 PM »
Anybody had any luck getting a barrel  lately?  I remember a post somewhere saying there was a pretty long waiting list.  Been waiting for a 22-250 barrel to hit the classifieds without any luck.  May give em a call to see what kinda time frame im looking at.

A good friend of mine just ordered a few barrels and got his in two weeks. He thinks that more barrels are available than what is listed, he got a 30-30 and a 357 Mag barrel w/o sights.

EDIT: He mailed his receivers to H&R on May 26th and they were back on his door step with 5 new barrels on June 3rd.  :o

Thanks, Dinny

You can buy a  22-250 with the nice plastic camo stock for $250+tax from Dick's on sale. You can sell the stock and are left at about $200 in for the warrantied barrel/factory fitted receiver in your hands right now. That ain't too bad compared to about $150 in for sending in your receiver and waiting however many months to get it back. It also comes with a scope that some people throw on their .22 and rings that are probably adequate.

Wreck, I was at the new Hayden Meadows Dick's in Portland OR yesterday, the scoped camo Handis were all tagged $299.99, is the sale off now or is there a coupon required for the sale? I didn't see it listed in their flyer. They were busy at the gun counter, so I didn't wait to ask or handle any of them, they had 5 of em in the rack, 2 had longer barrels than the other three, all appeared to be bull barrels.

thx,

Tim

Tim it seems they are sporadic never all at once, I live in a border town between Pa & NJ. The Pa one will be on sale
one week and the Jersey the next. Plus they won' sell to non-residents but I can buy from any other dealer in the tri-
state area but them and Sports Authority. Just watch the Sunday flier in the Newspaper.  Fred

I guess I am lucky because my FFL only charges me $20 for a transfer.  So I take Wreck's approach when I wanted a couple of more SB2 receivers. I bought new handis from Buds, hand my guy $20 and then post the extra parts here in the classifieds.  My FFL fee is about the same as paying the state tax at Dicks or Bass Pro and Buds is usually cheaper even with the shipping.

$250 is a sale price, but I have seen that sale 6-8 times in the last year. I can't believe that a national chain would print a different ad for every single store or region. If you have Academy Sports, they also sell a scoped 7-08 Youth for $279 everyday.

Well some people like plastic. The butt is a bit lighter, and the forearm is long and puts the sling swivel out of palm tearing range (if you happen to throw it on a slug gun for instance). The camo is well done.

I called CS on 6/15 and asked if they had a 357mag and a 410ga barrell in stock and was told
no, and that I might try calling back in about a month.  Said they were using all they had making complete rifles. I wanted to stay with my SB2 action, but may have to settle for a 357 SB1.
