Flag retirement & disposal

Had to retire our flag today - keep one flown and properly illuminated 24-7-365 and it was unserviceable. So we had a ceremony: prayer, short words of honor, pledge of allegiance. Then we tore it in strips and burned per etiquette. Just the family ... but we got choked up doing it. New one up in it's place - long may she wave!

We replaced our flag at church memorial day Sunday. We gathered around the pole and sang then prayed as the old flag was retired with honors. POWDERMAN.  ;D ;D

If proper retirement ceremonies are needed,contact the local Boy Scout troop in your area. When I was a Scoutmaster,we did tons of retirement ceremonies.
