My most accurate loads are with 168gr. cast with gas check, and 180 gr. jhp's.  both loaded over H110.

It's a great little round!

The load I like the best is the cast performance 180 gr wfngc with 2400. I use it in a gp100 and my handi as well.

I used a lot of Remington 140 gr. bullets in my two 357's. I used CCI mag primers and just under a max load of 296.

The one big problem with the .357 Magnum is that it's so darned versatile and shoots so many things well.  From mild to wild, it's a great cartridge.  Using 296, 2400, Unique, Blue Dot, and bullets from 125 to 180 grains, it is sometimes hard to decide what to load.  It shoots jacketed and cast with equal versatility.

My current "heavy" load for the cartridge is a 180 grain hard alloy, gas checked bullet over L'il Gun powder.  It gives me 1600 fps out of my carbine and will shoot completely through a hog.

Part of the fun with the cartridge is experimenting with different bullet/powder combinations.   Have fun with it.  Be safe.

From the .38s to the Maxis, It is DIFFICULT to find something that doesn't shoot well in a Handi.....ya gotta love em. :-* :-*

I prefer any that you can get for FREE!

above poster is correct, the only thing I would avoid is light non-gas checked cast bullets pushed too fast.
