For those who were concerned...

  For those who voiced so much concern when the govt suggested they may listen to international calls between terrorists; check this out !

  I wonder...when places like China, Myanmar or Venezuela decided to shut down the internet, did they use the same excuse ?

ironglow:   I don't know about such things, but I would assume the gvmt could jam the internet, radio, cell phones at anytime they deem necessary.   Is that possible?

Technologically possible: Internet & cell yes. Most frequencies of radio, yep ... but not all. Might be good to dust off the CBs and brush up on your navajo.

  I noticed that particular item because we just went through a situation where China wanted Google to provide personal info to the Central Planning Committee and to "strain" internet communications of certain information.
  Dictatorships have recently discovered that controlling the radio, TV and print media is not adequate to "control the masses".
   Frankly, I thought perhaps Joe Lieberman, being a outcast from the far lefties, may have had more respect for individual freedom than that !

      Our fuhrer's "central planning committee" has already started;

Just one more executive mechanism to control America, not just in time of "civil unrest". But then even that term has more meanings to others, than we would think. Only 3 posts to this thread. Even that may imply something..... Yeah Ham and CB'ers got some valuable skills.

Apathy ... we've been indoctrinating apathy in the US for years, GBO members included. Were about to celebrate Fathers Day tomorrow but when you look at how utterly fatherless our society has become and it's affect, how even fathers are a joke in the media, dare I say how even us gun enthusiasts have accepted or even embraced gun legislation as the norm ... Apathy. Do we all inherently understand that govt control on broadband won't cut off access to football and porn so no need to worry? Well still be able to talke NASCAR and bass fishing, just not politics and religion ... who cares about them anyway? Apathy.

That's the word my friend, and I must confess I have been guilty of my share of it.
I wish I had been more concerned  about where our nation was going back in my younger day's, but unfortunately me, and a lot of other young men and women had more important things on our minds. ::)
