Where do ya get new Glock 20's for under $500.00 ?

I saw them on gunbroker at that price.  You could get one shipped to you for just under $500 then you had to add the FFL which still isn't really that bad of a deal on them.  Of course I also looked after saying all of that and couldn't find them at the deal I remember.  After looking today, you'd be able to get one for under $600 pretty easily, but not the $500 I remember.

If the handguns that you have:
"I have a 44mag revolver, a full size 9mm, and a compact 9mm."               8)
are good, quality, serviceable pieces; I would strongly recommend that you keep them.

I see what you're saying and that's the reason I'm setup the way I am, but if I had to only carry one pistol.....  The G20 could get me through anything the others are doing.

              ::)
I have owned just about every toy out there, including a G20 and a Delta Elite [Gold Cup].    :)
I liked the G20 and I loved the   :-*  Delta Elite   :-*  .        ;D     8)
          ::)
However, trust me, you will not always have the G20 on you, nor will it do well all that you think that it will.     :o        ???

If you want a 10mm, go get one; they are a neat pistol.    :)      ;D      8)

However, trust me, if you dump what you have now, you will soon regret that mistake; and, it won't be long before you sell the G20 to rebuy pretty much what you now have ... at a much higher price.
                               :(          ::)              :-[                  :'(

Frankly, you have gun fever; and there is only one cure - you need another gun.
Son, I have been there and I have the scars to show for it.

Go buy a LCR; it will round out what you have and it will make you a much better shooter [please see my posts under the "Ruger" handgun thread]

Have fun, ... while you still can !

I may have to change my answer on this.  I was looking at the 10mm vs some of the more expensive +p type 45acp ammo, and I think it may be a toss up between the 10mm & a 45acp.  The best thing the 45 has going for it is the +p ammo and it's readily available.  With the 10mm it's unlikely that you'd ever find any more ammo than what you started with.

 ???                                              :o
10mm is one of those calibers that you really want to be able to handload for.   ;D
The good news is that you can usually put a 40cal barrel into a 10mm.       :)

Have you considered just getting a 40cal?            :-\
There are a lot of good ones out there ... now.                    8)
They have really improved the pistols' accuracy, and the ammo.     :-*
Also, availability, variety, and comparative price of ammo are much better now.     ;D

As much as I used to love, and still like 45acp, the 40cal is now the "go to" caliber.    8)

That 40cal Springfield XDM is really impressive.    ;D
The Berettas, SIGs, and S&W M&Ps are very nice.         :)
Be very careful with the Glock 40cals; ...   ???
... be sure that you really understand the issues with the unsupported case head problem.        :o
In Glocks, I really like ... and stay with ... 9mm and 357SIG: G19, G34, G26, & G17; also: G31and G32.     :)

What platforms are your 9mms ?

In the old issues of American Survival they often pointed out the fact that people won't carry off stuff they can't use so 10 mm ammo might be left on the shelf if no one has a gun .The felt it might be wise to have a weapon that used odd ammo at the start of a SHTF time and others would not want your ammo and kill you to get it. Also your resupply would be from those who attack you if you catch the drift . you could use their ammo and weapon as they won't need it anymore  ;).
One note some may find interesting , Col. Oliver North had death threats aginst his family and self. It was before Va had a shall issue law . Back then you applied for a spefic gun if you wanted a carry permit . Well he applied for a 10 mm Colt . It was in all the papers . Well you got to figure he had cut his teeth on the 45 acp Colt . Well if a  man with his experince in combat picked a 10 it might work for me . ;D

When it comes to survival, I'm not going to be betting on "maybe" being able to find ammo or hoping the looters left some on the shelf for me.  My 9mm's are a beretta m9 & xd sub.  Both have been pretty good to me, but it'd be nice if they took the same magazine.

My 44 is a S&W 4" stainless.  I haven't had it a year yet and it's a whole lot of firepower in a small package.  It's got some potential for deer hunting this year.  :)

You have some really nice guns and your collection is well balanced.

I could really see adding a snub, and the current pick of the litter is the LCR.

I could see adding a 40cal [ Beretta PX4; SIG P226, P229, P250; S&W-M&P; XD-M ].

I can't see selling what you have ... so long as they work well for you.
If they don't run well and reliably for you, then that is a different matter.

[/i]
The idea of using long mags in sub pistols is overated.
It sounds good and looks good but has some real world problems:
proper seating upon insertion [especially in panic];
renders a subgun clumsy and unwieldiy;
hard on the pistol;
etc., etc..
I just don't recommend it.

why add a copy of a 1911 design when you can have the real thing , all those listed use Browing lock up in one way or another .

 :o                                          ???                                   ::)
I love 1911s and trusted them with my life for 40 years or so.
... [I also really like the P35, which is a highly modified Browning design concept]

However, none of the pistols that I mentioned are copies of J.M.Browning designs.

The J.M.Browning 1911 design uses a "chain" link to allow and limit barrel movement and some intricate mortise and tenon [land & groove] machine work on the barrel hood and the [inside / underside] slide surface to lock up the barrel to the slide during firing.

The P35:
retains the J.M.Browning 1911 design intricate mortise and tenon [land & groove] machine work on the barrel hood and the [inside / underside] slide surface to lock up the barrel to the slide during firing;
but,
dispenses with the "chain" link and uses a barrel [underlug] cam block which travels in a frame slot to limit barrel movement.
This concept, along with much / most of the  P35 design was roughed out by J.M.Browning who had begun working with Fabrique Nationale (FN); and was perfected by his understudy at FN, Diedudonné J. Saive, after his mentor’s death.
Completely on his own, Saive developed the double column 13-round magazine, etc..
In 1941 Saive and some of his colleagues escaped from Belgium to Britain where he continued to work on a revolutionary new rifle which after a few variants and many years, eventually became the Fusil Automatique Léger, ...
the "FN FAL".

The Beretta M9 uses the [{Beretta 92 series} Walther P38 developed] "artillery lug" drop block lock system.

The Beretta PX4 uses a rotating bolt built into the barrel hood, a system derived from the Beretta Cougar which was the first commercially successful pistol of this design; ...
although it was first popularized by the old Colt "All American" {copied from an earlier obscure European design}
and is also now used in the STI GP6.

The SIGS, the S&W-M&Ps, and the XDs:
borrow the barrel [underlug] cam block which travels in a frame slot to limit barrel movement [from the P35];
and add the [SIG developed] enlarged barrel hood lock up to a precision cut rectangular ejection port in the slide.

Many other modern pistols [EAA, FN, Glock, H&K, Kahr, Ruger, Taurus, Walther, etc.] now use this system.

Same here.
XDM in 40cal is my go to ...[when I can get to it] ... gun.
It is a big honker, especially for summer carry in these swamps, which forces me to things like: G32, G19, and even G26 & LCRs.

The 40cal has really come such a long way that it is probably the best all around defense choice for most folks.
In a decade, it has gone from pathetic joke [40 Short & Wimpy] to top dog.
The 165 grain is just such a great combination of velocity and mass [===> penetration and incapacitation].
The pistols and ammo are so much better today that,... these days, I really can't recommend 45acp to anyone except the hog hunters and the 1911 or else folks.

When things settle down a bit, I will probably add a XDM45.

Unless you can get some really blazing velocity out of an awesome hand cannon, I just stay with 230 ball [FMJ].
That big old "punkin ball" feeds very well and usually handles soft targets reliability.
Yes, the price of 45acp [even ball {FMJ} ] will take your breath away and send you into sticker shock.
However, ... it is still less than premium +P 40cal HPs or even +P 9mm HPs.
If you need [and can afford] an awesome hand cannon, there are some phenomenal 45acp and 45 "wildcats" that make a 10mm look limp, lame, and lazy.
It's like the old handloaders with their 45 Long Colts.
The 44mag is sweet for whitetails; but if a brownie is in my face, I really want a 45 Long Colt ++ [aka 454 Casull] ...
or, much better ...  100 yards and a .375 Ruger.

I won my Gunbroker auction, a 2nd gen G-20 for $440. Then I went to my local store and found a 2nd gen Glock 21 in great shape for $400 even. I really prefer the look and feel of the 1st and 2nd gen Glocks with the parkerized slides and no finger grooves on the frames.
Now I just need to need to order a KKM .40 conversion barrel for the 20 and a few spare parts for both.
Maybe a .22lr conversion someday when my bank account recovers.

I dunno, I've just always gotten along with the big Glocks.

Have fun.
You got some neat toys.     :)
A few years back I had a 2d gen G20 and a 2d gen G21.     8)
Glocks are great, ... so long as you understand them.     ???
The key is training and practice.    :-[

I would get the 22 conversion for sure.     ;D
Instead of a 40cal barrel, I would put that $$$$ into [10mm &45acp] reloading gear.        :-*

Ammo isn't cheap for 10mm, ... or 40cal !!!            :o

The .40 barrel will do several things for me.
The .40 uses small primers in case large ones become scarce (again). (10mm uses large pistol primers)
It will have conventional rifling to take advantage of cheaper lead bullets.
It will allow me to use all the .40 brass I've scrounged since president Mao Obama was elected.
I can use factory .40 ammo which is far more common and cheaper than 10mm.
I'm well stocked on .45acp supplies.

I just need more .400" bullets and some 10mm brass.

I put an old set of Dawson fiber optic sights on the 21 and shot some great groups with plated SWC's today, I'm glad I got the 21 as well as the 20.

I don't know what part of the country you're in, but here in my neck of the woods, small primers are harder to find than chickens teeth. I can buy large primers just about anywhere, but small primers, they are few and far between.

Here in south east MN and western WI it's been just the opposite, when primers were scarce, large pistol were the hardest to find. We went quite a few months without LPP's during the winter/spring of '08-'09.
Either way, with the 10mm/.40 combo I can take advantage of whatever primers or brass I have.
