Wearing white in Saskatchewan ????
« on: November 26, 2003, 07:55:25 AM »
Hi All,
I am a dealer for Northern Outfitters clothing and have also been to a few other cold weather clothing manufacturers that have expedition weight clothing. In many of their catalogs, they all seem to mention something about it being "mandatory" to wear all white over your clothing is Saskatchewan. Not only for hunting, but for trecking also.

Does anyone know what the deal is with this ?? If I wanted to get lost in a snowy area and stay lost till the spring thaw. I would wear white. Yet if I were to want to be found, I would wear contrasting bright colors.
So what IS the deal there ?? Thanks for any insight.

Stay Safe,
Franz

my family's from saskatchewan and few years back we where back at the farm for a family reunion. it was mid november and there about 5-6 guys that asked permission to hunt muleys and whitetails on my uncles land. most of them either wore blaze orange or plaid so i think that might be some american misconception. of course i could be wrong, do we have any banjo picking sask folks on this here board? :D !

most of the guys out here wear orange.  we can wear white red orange and yellow or any combination of those colors.  we cant wear the white on our heads cause there is to many shoot at any thing that moves people out there.  whitetail deer and white head were dont go hand in hand.

i got both white and orange cover alls.  used the white for the first time this year and i didnt see much of a diffence.
Let the heavens decide.

SASK. Hunter:

Thanks for the clarification on that. I left there too many years to remember as far as hunting goes. When I hunted we wore White with red caps. Came to B.C. where there was no color restriction. Went on my first moose hunt in B.C. in 1969 asked a warden about color and he looked at my parteners Black jacket and said it was a common sense thing.
