A DAY WITH AN ELEPHANT HUNTER
« on: June 21, 2010, 01:57:01 PM »
I had the privilege to  spend a day eating with a retired elephant hunter from the Belgium Congo.

He used a 425 Westley Richards custom made in Belgium. He culled 54 elephants and 10 cape buffalo in 20 years as a game control warden for his region in the late 50s and 60s.

His english wasn't the best, but what I got from it was he didn't like frontal brain shots because the shot angle is bad, and you have to wait until the elephant is too close. He liked side shots better.

He also shot a Model70 375HH, but that was for smaller animals, not DG.
