Grips for New Model Super Blackhawk
« on: June 24, 2010, 02:57:22 AM »
I have a New Model Super Blackhawk Hunter 44mag with the round trigger guard, and am having a hard time finding grips to replace the small laminate stock grips. Any suggestions?

Most any grip made for the "traditional" Super Blackhawk should work.  The Hunter model's grip frame
is simply the square backed trigger guard Super Blackhawk grip frame with the trigger guard rounded off.

The Super Blackhawks with 4-5/8" and 5-1/2" barrels use the Blackhawk grip frame.

There's an article posted on www.gunblast.com that contains information on Ruger S.A. grip frames.

I've been looking at a set from this guy, but I found out he's not dealing with the internal locks yet.  Might have something for your model though. 8)

Holy crap!  Prices are up there but those grips are just beautiful!  I don't know how someone picks a set to buy after looking through his pictures.

Altamont grips.  make sure you know the grip frame size. like flatgate said order blackhawk not super blackhawk.  pull the stocks and look just to be sure.
Everything before BUT is B.S.

Correction; I said Super Blackhawk and not Blackhawk.  The Hunter Grip Frame is the same as the Super Blackhawk BUT with a round trigger guard.

The above Ruger is a stainless steel Blackhawk owner fitted with a Hunter Grip Frame.  It's grip panels are off of a Super Blackhawk as is the Hammer.

flatgate I had the same problem with the SBH .44mag Hunter I owned....the Pachmyr grips were not fitting right with the round trigger guard grip frame of that particular model. VERY Disappointing and I wound up trading it off....the factory grips and full power loads were a terrible match for me. I used to own an old Bicentenniel SBH blued w/7&1/2" barrel and squared trigger guard that wore Pachmyr presentation grips just fine and made it a shooter ( I stupidly traded it off & regret it now).......currently I own a SS Bisley Blackhawk convertible (special run edition) in .45ACP & .45LC......the LC can be loaded pretty hot ala .44mag and the Bisley frame is easier to control with......although I wish someone made over-sized rubber grips for the Bisley too.......Pete

Pete,

Ah, rubber baby buggy bumpers!   :D

I cannot, in any way, shape or form, imagine them on a gun I own.  But,
if they work for you then that's wonderful.
