Handspring fitting Uberti '51 Navy???
« on: June 24, 2010, 08:40:17 AM »
Recently the handspring broke on my Uberti '51 Navy and the replacement I bought from Dixie is considerably different from the origonal. Any suggestions on fitting the new hand?
This is the second Handspring I am doing though the other one (for a Piettia '51) was narrower and fitted right up. This handspring is dimensionally thicker than the Uberti origonal.
I think that the top chisel point is the most important dimension since it controls the timing however the thickness of the replacement part dosen't appear to affect fitting into the revolver.
 Any help would be appreciated!

Thicker may be better if it fits, after all the thinner one did break.

Good results have also been had by modifying a piece of Bobby Pin as a hand spring.  It's good steel and very reasonably priced.

You need to PM Gatofeo, he can walk you through that repair. I followed his instrutions a year or two ago and had no trouble fittingmy new hand spring in my navy.
