What are the going prices for these rifles in your area and what are your feelings on the quality vs the 336c?

there was a dude at work who for years I told him I would buy his 30-30 if ever he was gonna get rid of it.  I asked him if it had a gold trigger, he said yes, so I thought that meant it "was a good one".  Finally he said he was selling it, did I want it and I said yes so we did the deal, and when I saw it I was like "crap its one of those WalMart guns... >:( ::)"
he had a nice leupold one pc base and a new generation scopechief (really nice scope considering..)

well guess what? its one of those "when something positively has to die today" guns, damn good shooter, rock solid, feels like you could beat a door open with it. I love mine.  I have a pristine precrossbolt from the sixties in the safe and it will be gone before my 336W will.  I don't know if it is just me but the grip feels fatter....and I like that.  People say the wood is crap but I really like the lighter color. A lot.  The action is slicker than snot.  and the trigger is horrible. like all Marlins.   ;D :o  but its DRT'd everything its been pointed at with 170 gr Speer flat points and H4895 and H335.
Though taken from established manufacturers' sources and presumed to be safe please do not use any load that I have posted. Please reference Hogdon, Lyman, Speer and others as a source of data for your own use.

[your feelings on the quality vs the 336c]

The same as my feelings about the quality of a green F150 vs a blue one...................

I have no complaints over my Wally-mart model 30aw. I'm still shaking my head over a 336W I let slip by a while back, perfect conditions, scoped, in a pawn shop I buy Marlins from occasionally for $250 and I know the price would drop if I asked. I'd like to have that chance back again, I'd say, how about $220 out the door  ;D .DT
