Mt. Lion in back yard
« on: June 25, 2010, 11:41:51 PM »
About 1015 p.m. heard a BIG cat scream out back. Out the back door with 9mm and flash light. Tripped over  my big dog who was growling at something. Guy up the hill raises english pointers and they were  going wild. It would be hard to shoot with houses on 3 sides of me and state park on the other side. Brought dog in and grabbed big spot lite and checked the park area. Sure enough there it was, and then it was gone. Guess time to get the 12 ga pump out of the safe. Had though about getting a bow awhile bac k but then remembered I cant even get the arrows to go any wheres near the direction I want. Maybe will invest in a cross bow.

Get night vision goggles and a night vision scope and a 357 rifle. Zero the rifle with 38 specials at  what ever yards the cat shows it's self. Shoot from inside the house backed up from the window or door and the neighbors won't hear. Make a gut shot and the cat will run off and you won't have to mess with it. SSS-not necessary and you and yours are safe. eddiegjr

Times like that is why I have a suppressor and subsonic loads for one of my 30-06s.  Remember the three Ss.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

For those that woundered why my 12 ga. was in the safe, have a grand c hild visiting and put it there for safty's sake. 9mm is out of reach and in box above prying eyes and hands.

I'm sure you are aware that the cougar is probably protected but you also have a right to protect yourself, your familly and your property. Keep a very close eye on children and pets and personally I'd wear a sidearm at home. Any weapon is useless if it's out of reach when needed no matter the reason.

Part of the problem solved. Grandchild back with parents. Old Westren bolt action 12ga with clip (2 rds)+ 1 in the tube on the back porch, hanging above the door.
bearmgc, tks for the offer, seems I have a bunch of them around here some place.
Spirthawk, normaly  I have a side arm on me on the property.  This happened at 1015 p.m., hard to carry a pistol in my shorts. (cold also  :o)
They may be proteted by law, but ifin in my yard my LAW applies.
