Gallup says conservatives outnumber liberals..

  gallup claims that conservatives outnumber liberals by a 2 to 1 margin. If that is true, how do we get stuck with such an abomination as we now have for an administration in Washington ? Is that big group of "moderates" messing us up ?

Few liberals consider themselves liberals.  Most moderates consider themselves to be conservatives.  The poll doesn't really tell the story.  It isn't posible for a conservative to be elected in this country and conservatives make up only a very tiny percentage of the total population.

Well as disturbing as it is for me, I will have to agree with Swampy. You cannot BE a Conservative and vote for a Moderate, or Liberal. You can CLAIM to be Conservative and you voted differently for various reasons, but it's like a Christian practicing Islam, yet claiming he's a Christian.

what im finding out is that a lot of conservatives DID vote for obama because they actually believed the sewage he was spewing out of his mouth.they believed he would end overseas conflicts and he would fix the economy.i think they learned their lesson but would not put it past them to vote STUPID in the future.

Okay, I didn't click on the link, so maybe this comment doesn't apply, but one has to wonder if the titles "conservative" and "liberal" were explained to those who participated in the poll.  Dumbycrats have tried to label themselves as progressive and hey that must be good--right?  

Would any Dumbycrats be elected if they were forced to carry the title that most closely represents what they really are--communists?  Maybe they would, maybe they wouldn't; I'm not sure where our poopulation is politically anymore.  It looks like the majority is for whoever offers the most entitlements and makes the fewest pay the bill.

True; there is obviously a lot of "word play" in politics.
  For instance, "progressive" actually means regressive where they would take us back to the dark ages , wherein a group of "elites" would treat the rest like serfs and slaves.
  Rush claims that moderates are just liberals, who want to appear "open minded" and not judgemental.

We had one general as president, Ike and he was a disaster. I am not looking forward for another. You should have been around back then looking for work! I damn near starved, before I reenlisted in the Marine Corps.

You do know that we've had more than 1 general for president right?

BB among others we had generals..Andy Jackson,Wm H Harrison, Zachary Taylor, U S Grant, Chester A Arthur and not to be overlooked.. George Washington. Some were less than stellar..and some were indeed, very outstanding.
  On the other hand, 26 of 44 were lawyers. Some were not any great shakes..Woodrow Wilson, FDR, JFK, Nixon, Ford, Bush 1, Clinton ..and now the real prize ..Obammy.
  That is not to say lawyer presidents were all incompetents, since that list included John Adams, James Madison and Abraham Lincoln.
  
      Actually, previous vocation and Ivy League school counts for little. Martin Van Buren, Wm H Harrison (not graduated), Zachary Taylor, Millard Fillmore, Abraham Lincoln (1 yr law), Andrew Johnson, Grover Cleveland, George Washington and Harry S Truman..were not college grads...and like all the rest, there were good, bad and greats included in that list.

  I say again, an honest person with good moral character is the most important ingredient for any president.

One major problem is that many of those people that profess to be conservatives never votes.  My parents profess to be conservative, but they are some of the strongest Yellow Dog Democrates you ever saw.  But with the issues they claim to be conservative.  They never watch the news outside their local area, and do not keep up with what is going on in the world, or else where in the country.  But they will vote for a Yellow Dog before they would vote for a Republican.  They just will not take a look at the partiy platforms, and when you try and tell them what the parties stand for now, they keep refering back to a time when they were kids and how badly the Republicans were blamed for the economic conditions of the 30s.  They can not get past that.

BB:  How about all the illigials Ike sent packing when he started rounding them up and shipping them to the Yucatan.  That was so the returning troops from Korea would have jobs.

Will say my Dad found the best job he ever had during Ikes adminastration.

Abraham Lincoln was a racist and a bigot, not to mention he violated States Rights, and tried to seize the Souths textile industry by force (which he did). Andrew Jackson was a also a racist and a bigot, and his answer to Indian land was genocide of the American Indian. A case in point was Osceola. Come out and surrender, sign this peace treaty and you can keep your land. When Osceola came out of the swamps he was immediately hung by the government. Ulysses S. Grant was a drunk and ordered the burning of half the south many times for no reason or gain. I wonder if Grant spent any time in Massachusetts. With Kennedy they seem to like drunks running their business?
Just because someone has stars on their shoulders, or a law degree doesn't mean their qualified or fit to lead the country, but I guess that's been said.
I think a select few Governors could be good presidents if there is such a thing, although Clinton would have been better off, as would the country if he were in the pen instead, and Bush although I thought was a good governor ended up sucking as a president.
Obama, I haven't figured out what he would be good for, unless he was large enough to plug the leak in that oil well. That would be two birds with one stone.
