Ruger #1-V
« on: June 27, 2010, 07:00:14 AM »
I just bought a 22-250 Ruger #1-Varmit one beautiful rifle not a scratch anywhere and the barrel is VG also. I paid $550 shipped to me I guess this was an OK deal?.  scoped it with a 24X japan made. I went to the range the other day, I was really happy with the groups of 1-1/2" extreme spread all the shots were under an 1'" expect that dastardly flyer. I am sure it will do better with Re- loads. But now for the unhappy part of the shooting , this is the worse trigger I own. It's terrible. Any one know if the factory trigger is adjustable? or is the any after market trigger to solve this delemma? Thanks in advance. Lou
Well I guess no one has a problem with thier Ruger #1, as no replies? Well I found a trigger from brownells that makes the Ruger #1's trigger a heck of sight lighter for $53 dollars Well shot the Ruger #1 yesterday and what a shooter even with factory Remington ammo it shot under an inch at 100 yards Shame no White color would be right on time for the 4th

Page 14 of the Ruger No 1 owner's manual shows that you are not supposed to adjust the trigger, and shows the location of the two screws that you are not supposed to adjust. It shows that you should not use an allen wrench when you are not adjusting them.

Did you buy the after-market trigger?
If so, have you tried it yet?

yes I got it but haven't installed it yet. My gunsmith buddy is going to do it for me. He charges me nothing so I don't bug him when he gets over he will do it. I will post it when it all comes together. I am really happy with the way it shoots with factory ammo and even with the trigger the way it is. I have some loads worked up and as soon as this heat breaks I will try them out. Have lung problems and can't take the heat. Lou

Lou,

Let us know what you think of the trigger once it is installed.

Also, is the forend floated on your #1?

For years, I have floated all the #1s which happen to come my direction.

Even the current 45/70 I am working with.

Other then the Clark Custom RUGER 77/22 I have, I don't do non - floated barrels on rifles.

And, if the CRuger didn't shoot so very well, as it came from Clark, I'd be right in the middle of it also.

I just haven't been able to bring myself to taking it apart. It just shoots too well as is!

Keep em coming!
