Four shameful justices.
« on: June 28, 2010, 01:30:52 PM »
Four out of nine justices do not believe the Constitution applies to everyone, everywhere in the United States.

Liberal nitwits.  I wish Jefferson was around to see this. It was a victory but it should of been 9-0.

I agree.  I guess they (liberals) believe the Constitution only applies to them.

It only applies to what they want it to apply to or what they can twist it to apply to.

Didn't they take an oath to "Defend the constitution" ?

Kind of scary when you remember that they have a lifetime appointment.I hope that we the people will be able to bring this country back to an even keel and then revisit some of these term limits.

I agree on the term limits.  No one should be able to stay in a position like that for a life time.  I'm from Wva, and although he was from my state and God rest his soul, I was ready for Byrd to step down and allow someone else a chance.  No offense to any of his family or friends intended, but a person being in an office like that for 50 or 60 years is beyond ridiculous.

I disagree. Your just unhappy because your viewpoint isn't always shared by the court. So far,I think its working pretty darn well. Our rights to own guns for self defense have just been affirmed. On the other hand, there are as many crazy far right ideas going around out there that violate the constitution as crazy far left ideas. (remember that whole flag burning debate)

Uh no, actually I didn't mention anything about my viewpoint or the courts.  Byrd was a senator, not a judge.   I was referring to giving new people, fresh faces with fresh ideas, a chance.  Byrd was in office for almost 60 years.  I think that's a bit much, for anyone.  If we limit the terms of our president, why should we not limit the terms of our senators, etc?

I don't agree with anyone being given a lifetime appointment either (I AM referring to judges here).

I apologize. I did what annoys me the most about others. I read a few posts, skimmed some threads, got a mistaken idea of what you were talking about and then mouthed off with a comment. I actually agree, term limits on senators is not a bad idea at all.

Until the progressives amended the constitution, senators were appointed by state legislatures. If a senator voted with the Washington crowd and not the state, he could be brought home and replaced. This limited the power of the banker run central government and gave rights to the people of a state. Now, the senators are beholding to corporate money and could care less about you. Corporate millions for TV time assures a lifetime job. Rather than term limits, we need to go back to what our founding fathers so wisely put together and repeal the 17th amendment.

As for the four shame Justices, gs50401 said it best!
The sole purpose of government is to protect your liberty. The Constitution is not to restrict the people, but to restrict government.  Ron Paul

The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first. - Thomas Jefferson
