Famed Cabelas Ex-Sniper Mosin

I thought the ex-sniper from Cabellas was like Bigfoot or the Jersey Devil,but I actually found one today. It turned out it was one someone brought in and sold them so it didnt come with the accesories. What it did come with was nice bore,a good finish all over on both the wood and the metal and the same $99 dollar price tag all the others had. I cant wait to get it out to the range and see how it shoots. (I should print out some pictures of NAZI officers in Stalingrad with targets superimposed over them. Come to think of it,that would be a nice target to shoot at for ANY Mosin.

I have a '43 IZH ex-sniper I bought at a local hardware store for $99. Didn't know what I had until I asked about the lined out (scope) number and the welded-up holes on the reciever.

Mine's pretty darn accurate. Helps that the barrel is like a quarter-mile long...

There's talk at times that these were sighted in at refurbishment with the bayos on, mine doesn't seem to be like that. Very good with no bayo, with it on it's all over the place.

I snagged a 44 IZH ex-sniper yearlier this year and have begun the toils of re-snipering it. So far I have true PU mount and bracket without a scope, and a mount with a weaver rail. I'm using the weaver with a 10x mil dot scope and reloads to print some very good patterns.

Very nice. How did you get the bolts out? Ive been considering the ways to do it.

 The irony is,the 91/30 is the SHORT barreled Mosin rifle. LOL

A sturdy drill press, good carbide drills and a lot of patience. Started with a drill 4 sizes smaller than I needed for the correct hole size for the tap and worked my way up.

 Ive been debating on what kind of scope mount to put on it. My choices are either a PU scope mount or just to make one myself. Im leaning toward a PU though. I see them around and they are quite expensive. Do you know of any place that has a good deal on them?
