he is just baiting you spirithawk.  you are wasting your time giving him thought out, well expressed and presented points.  in turn you get another jab from swampy.    dont waste your breathe or energy.  you would be much better served getting some rest and keeping your stress level down.    i hope you feel alot better very soon.

Thanks bud, I apreciate it. I'm a survivor, this is just more to indure.  Trust me I know Swamp's intensions. Notice though? Whenever I ask questions they are simply ignored, or if answered at all, only much later and then very vagely so. Think maybe that's because he has to read to find the answers, simply has no idea where to find them written down, knows he has no answers at all, or simply can't think for himself. Why is it he has the idea that if it isn't written down then it just can't be so?  He'd have never survived in the time when a man's word was his bond. He'd have been the only one alive asking everything be written down and some honest man would have shot him.  ;) As AniKituhwagi, I don't need words to be written down on paper to make them true, words that are true sink deep into our hearts where they remain forever.......SH ^i^

The DNA you are referring to in North America was here originally and left this continent and went eastward to Europe and westward across the Pacific.

Really!?  :o  So North America is actually the real cradle of civilization!?  Mankind originated here!?   :o  I KNEW it!

That kinda makes us all "First Nation" doesn't it?   ;D

Good enough for me!   ;D  People read a lot of things they swear is the truth!  Like you need 1000 ft. lbs. of energy to kill a deer!   ::)  Nobody ever asks for proof of that!   :-\

I'm okay with my European ancestors coming from North America...  weren't no monkeys for me to evolve from in No. America... Never did buy into ol' Darwin's theory anyway...  :P  I would hate to think of Chicago being the Garden of Eden though...   :-[

They were given him by bear. It takes more than one simple story easily found on line, though it took you long enough to do so, to know a people Swamp.  You're not fooling anyone one bit. And save your bait for fishing. You'll get more bites.

You believe that the bear gave the chipmunk his stripes, and scoff at DNA evidence?

Is that the best you have Swamp, really?  ::) Some stories are meant to teach lessons, others to pass on history. Even little school children know that and can tell the differance Swamp. You'd think a man as suposedly as well read as you would know that too. Aparently not though, huh? Your attempts at baiting are getting pretty feeble Swamp. Can't asnswer an honest question so you resort to bait and switch and even then poorly done. You amuse me sir.

It's oral tradition.  I didn't look it up either.

Sure you didn't look it up.  ::) though you sure could learn from it. But, again you try to avert my point, that you seem to think knowing one story, if you even know it, learning by reading alone, and having barely enough quantum of blood to notice, makes you an expert on not just the AniKituhwagi Nation mind you...but on all other Nations as well. And worse yet that somehow you have the right to judge every man, woman and child of all those Nations. And yes Swamp, they are Nations and recognised by the government as so.  I've asked many times why that is so, only to be ignored or given an answer that sidesteps the question, been baited constantly and blatantly, but for some strange reason.....I still haven't gotten an answer. How convienient for you.  I'm no longer caring what your answer is because it needs not be spoken. You've made it very obvious. Yv agasesdodi tla siwu Higi ganvgoi vhnai hia gasgina ale hilahi ganvgoi hia elohi...... Adanvdo Towodi ^i^ Ask and I'll translate if reading can't do it for you. Point made.

Because we are old, it may be thought that the memory of things may be lost with us, who have not, like you, the art of preserving it by committing all transactions to writing.

We nevertheless have methods of transmitting from father to son an account of all these things. You will find the remembrance of them is faithfully preserved, and our succeeding generations are made acquainted with what has passed, that it may not be forgot as long as the earth remains.

the bear story is like the world being flat story , it was all they knew at the time ! Better we try to understand what we face today togather and try understanding not payback or we will all pay in the end more than any have to give !

Too many take the stories literally. Even when told to children, hundreds of years ago, the kids knew that bear didn't give chipmunk it's stripes. You're missing the whole point of the story. That it's foolish and wrong to make fun of another. That is what the story says. That is the way of all the traditional stories. They stress lessons on morality, plus history, in a manner that's enjoyable. I've always had a love of history. Couldn't wait to get my first history book in school and you know what? When I finally did I absolutely hated it. Things were all about dates and the reading was as dry as desert driftwood. As a result it was a real struggle to actually learn anything that stuck. If you want to keep a child, or any persons interest, then make what your teaching enjoyable to learn. You must understand. We, meaning Indians, didn't have written languages for the most part. All knowledge was learned from either personal experience or through such stories.  Why shouldn't such a story be enjoyable as long as it gets it's meaning accross?  Plus, you tend to remember the story whereas just a fact thrown at you can very easily be quickly forgotten. :)

I think we agree , my point is we try to use what was said long ago in terms of what we know today . It is a building block . Much like the old books of the Bible are the foundation of our law today .

True, but that also depends on the lesson. Basic morals should never change nor do some things in nature ever change. Also, history has a strange way of repeating itself.  If we can learn from the past, it might not keep us from repeating it, but it can better prepare us to cope.

I took a couple religion classes in college , taught by a Catholic priest . He was both a good teacher and Catholic . I am Baptist for the record. Anyway he showed us the things about different religions that were almost the same . Maybe different names and places but the exact same story . He even included stories from Native Americans. It was almost unbeliveable that much of the stories took place in much the same time or soon following each other . The big shock came when he was ask what he thought the reason for this was . We all expected a "religious" idea . He simply said back in the day people traded all around the world . They exchanged stories as a form of entertainment and news . He figured after hearing the story of Christ being born the story got told around the world and the people used the names they had for Christ and in some cases the story was altered to fit their religion and customs . He thought they were altered some because they were not written down and in some cases could get the teller killed if the story conflicted with the beliefs in the area. That was years ago , I would add that God is every where and feel that people around the world used different names . To all belivers it is a powerful spirit we call God and believe in  A power that can be in each of us if we allow it . One other thing I got from the class is that its not at all hard to see that there will be differences , consider the different ideas Jews , Muslims and Christians arrive at from the same Bible . I love history also but always keep in mind it is written to shed a good light on the winners in many cases .
BTW the stories you posted were good.

that is simply nothing more than people thinking they are smarter than they actually are, and other morons buying into the baloney being 'sold'.   others see it on t.v., or read it on the net and instantly accept it is fact.   it is laughable, really.
