Is there a  338 X 348 Winchester Ackley Improved?  Just thinking you could take the 308 X 348 Win. AI and neck it up to 338.  Do you think this would be a good cartridge?

Bigboar, great minds run in the same track..... so do ours.  I've often thought that this would be a good cartridge but it would be too long for the 1895/336 Marlin action.  The case would have to be shortened to adhere to the 2.55" OAL that this action needs.

However, if you could find a Model 71 or a Ruger Number One you could re-barrel and it should work just fine.

I am thinking of doing this on a Ruger #3 or on a Siamese mauser action.

Who did you use to do the barrel?  Did you have to have reamers made?  If so who did you use?

Many thanks,

Bigboar, The reamer was from elk ridge reamers. The barrel and chambering done by bullberry barrels, the dies are from the hornady custom shop.
