SS Encore 209x50 or Endevour?
« on: July 01, 2010, 09:04:50 PM »
Should I keep my stainless TC 209x50 or sell it off and get a TC Endevour? Besides all the fancy doo-dads is there really a difference?

It is always neat to have the latest and greatest but in my opinion you will not gain much with the doo-dads they have. I asked the same ?? a couple years ago before I bought and ended up with the encore, then another barrel, then one for my son, then another barrel for his, then a contender pistol, then another barrel for contender......... Anyone see a pattern yet??? Spend the money you would on the endeavor for more barrels or a good trigger job. Just my thoughts.
Thanks,

Haha..thanks "okieshooter" for your thoughts, I'm keep'n her  ;)  as a matter of fact I just bought a new TC Ram rod with fold down/over T-handle. While at the same store I had a look at the Endevour and it of course felt absolutly the same as my 209x50 except newer. The Speed breech Xt was kinda neat though. Especially with them litle gas rings (like an M16 bolt) and o-ring. Keeps all the carbon, dirt & grime out of the nipple area etc I guess? The extra 2 inches of barrel might be a benefit too but my 209x50 shoots pretty darn good with its 26" barrel. More weight there I guess.
As for more barrels, I have just enuf for my venue of shooting & hunting, A 28" .270 Win Pro-Hunter barrel and a 26" 7mm Rem mag Encore barrel.
My other big game guns are a Win 88/.308 & a Remington 700 SPS .270 Win plus a Win '94 30-30. So I don't think I need any more calibers IMO.
Cheers All,

I just did a (B e ll M) spring mod on the hammer, trigger and lock-up. My oh my what an impressive improvement. This dropped my trigger pull to 1.5 lbs from 4lbs pull. I had her at the range yesterday and my groups with Harvester sabot, Hornady 300gr XTP and 100gr volume of Pyrodex Select were an easy 2" group. Add 1.5" or more before that. I know the 250gr SST's grouped well b4 so I'm sure they would've improvedso I did'nt try them. I will however give the Barnes 250gr TMZ a try soon. Well, if I trade up for an Endevour atleast I'll have some extra's to include lol ;)

Well after talking with a some guys I met at the range the other day, one piped up and said he would'nt getting into muzzleloading. I told him how awesome it is and that I shoot a an Encore 209x50. So the next day I took it to the range for him to try. After 3 shots and an impressive 1.25" group with Barnes 250gr TMZ/120grs volume Pyrodex Select he was SOLD...He then asked if I wanted to sell and I was like uhhhhh...dunno? So he pretty much offered me the same price that I paid for it in 2005 and I said "For real?"
B4 I knew it i was holding onto $860 bucks cash in my hand no sooner I was on the phone ordering a brand new Endevour. You gotta love them oil rig workers and thier deep generous pockets. So anyways we're both happy and have even planned a bp hunt this fall. Not bad for only meeting the guy the day b4 eh;)
Can't wait for my new TC muzzleloader to show up  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
