Curious since their "church" is the rationale for their "state".

Which directive do we have in the US regarding separation of church & state? If you could provide the legal code for that it would make this easier to answer.

What is your definition of Separation of Church and State? Is it what the 1st Amendment means? Or is it what the courts twisted it around to mean in 1947 and there after?  Separation of Church and State was never worded in any of the founding documents. Also the 90 founders that that were a part of the 1st amendment never even mentioned, Separation of Church and State. We know this, because back then everything was written down and recorded.

The treaty with Tripoli was one of the many treaties in which each country officially recognized the religion of the other in an attempt to prevent further escalation of a "Holy War" between Christians and Muslims.

Founders Notes??? There is none that uses the words Separation of Church and State. If you are referring to Jefferson's personal letter to the Danbury Baptists, like the Courts did. It was just that, a personal letter.

isn't it a shame that this part of a letter by Tommy J isn't given the weight of law that his "wall of separation" comment is given?

A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks.
