What war?
« on: July 04, 2010, 04:37:40 AM »
This morning I am watching the news and scanning the internet and I keep seeing  war this and longest war that, and it makes me think about something I have been wondering something for a long time now and maybe you guys can answer it for me.

When we were in WW1 we fought the Germans,
WW2 we fought the Germans, Japan, and Italy
Korean war the Koreans
Vietnam war the Vietnamese
ECT, ECT, ECT

All the wars fought were against governments of other countries and the military's and when the government was brought down or surrendered it is pretty much over.

Now to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, we started to fight the established governments but beat the very quickly (no more fighting a government or a military). We are fighting against terrorist for the most part, maybe a local here and there, but not the gov. or their military.

I guess what I am trying to say is why do we still call it the Iraq war or the Afgan. war, when we are fighting along side of their new gov. and militaries ( named a war on terror I can accept but that is not what it is called).

I dont want to hear that it is because we are still there, we still have bases in Japan, German and many other places we fought through out the world, but these wars are concerted done and we are still there.

All we are doing is helping protect against civil unrest at this point not really fighting a war, is their something political for continuing to call it a war? Just something that I have been annoyed about lately and thought you guys could help explain this to me.

Maybe it's the "Support our Military Industrial Complex Wars". "War on Terror" has no boundaries or limits or end unless genocide is an option. "Oil Wars" won't work if Afganistan is included.

The coorporations of the Allied nations or WWII and the coorporations of Japan and Germany are comingled and cross invested to where they are international in presence, don't know where that leaves the major stock holders, Switzerland maybe?

For todays wars, other than the Oil factor, the story seems to be to build Democracy in those areas of the world. How can war be stoped where war and goat hearding are the only industries? They make war to see who owns the goat grazeing.

I guess my point is, wasnt the war against Iraq and Afghanistan gov. and military won a long time ago, but we still call it a war? Its just doesnt seem right to continue to call it the Iraq or Afgan war when we are not fighting them anymore, it just seems like they call it a war for some other reason.

Its not that I am complaining about the war just confused as to why we still say we are at war.

TURK. We ARE in a war. Not a nation as much as a war against a fast growing cancer called islam. It's islam against the world, God, vs satan, good vs evil. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

A rose by any other name is still a rose.

Do you think if the actions in question were labelled differently that they would be concluded sooner and with a favorable outcome?  I have a hard time even thinking about what we're doing as "war."  When I think about war, I think about total commitment to destroying the enemy with the best, most efficient means possible.

It seems we've chosen to just ignore the war that threatens this country the most, which is the war of invasion from the south.  We have to learn to recognize what is really going on and call it what it is.  I guess it wouldn't be politically acceptable to call it war, but war by any other name is still a war.

Yea, but my point is the enemy has changed, not fighting the Iraqy or Afgany militaries. New enemy new war!!

So we are fighting a religion rather then a country?? Was this the intention from the start, and if it is a war against Islam, why is the idiot we have in high power continuing the war on his Brothers.

TURK. Osama knows that a quick, immediate surrender would not be supported by the American public. He has greatly restricted our military so that there will be no victory, miranda rights, medals for not returning fire, greatly restricting air support, etc, thereby helping his comrades. He has also sold Israel down the river by supporting hamas and the other Godless clans and cults. He's sending another 900 million $ to hamas to support their evil ways, OUR MONEY.
Islam is a fast growing cancer, a boil on the butt of the ENTIRE world. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

Hmmmm, lets see a war where the US Government doesn't give it's own troops the equipment to fight properly. Ties their hands and flat out won't allow them to win. Now where have we seen that before I wonder?

USAF
Disabled Vietnam Vet!

We have the technology to see through walls, read the date on a dime from thousands of feet in the air but we can't find Osama? Really? I personally know Marine snipers that swear they've had Osama in their sights and been told to stand down! I don't doubt it one bit. In every war there are those making money hand over fist. As long as they are wars will always go on, and on, and on. As far as fighting a religion goes, Muslims are taught from birth that if you aren't a Muslim then you are an infidel. ALL infidels are subject to be killed and the bloodier the better to make examples of them. They complain, cry, whine and moan about how we treated prisoners while convieniently forgeting that they executed their prisoners on live tv by cutting heads off and then dragging the headless bodies through the streets. Today tv brings war right into your living room. Because of that you have people that sit in their arm chairs and think they know what and how things should be done. Most of such people having never served in the military themselves. Just my opinion but if you're going to fight a war 1rst determine who the enemy is and that you want to win 2nd give your military all they need to do so and 3rd ALLOW THEM TO DO SO!!!!!!

Eddie, ya know, on one hand we have a justifiable reason to go after terrorist. On the other that purpose gets severely distorted by those making money. Unfortunately, and if I read you right you're correct, money all to often overides the real purpose at the exspense of countless lives. Anyone who thinks wars are glorious has never fought in one. I once was visiting my daughter who is in the Navy. A civilian friend of her's thanked me for my service ( I'm a disabled Vietnam Vet) and followed by saying he wished he could have fought by my side. i don't know but something about the way he said it caused something to snap just a little bit inside me. I told him thank you for caring but NO he shouldn't wish he could have been there. I went on to exsplain that I am slowly and painfully dying from the effecyts of Dioxin ( Agents Orange, Brown and Pink) and the VA admits it but told me tough luck because I don't have cancer nor Diabetis II which is about all they they recognise other than peripheral neuropathy which I have acording to civilian doctors but not to them. I exsplained about what it was like to see your brothers in arms ripped to shreds by modern weapons of destruction. I told him about then coming home to be cursed at and spit on and shunned even by family and old friends. So no, he probaly wouldn't have liked to be there.

Spirithawk;

I don't glorify war and don't wish I had been there. I was raised gy a man that went through the Casarine Pass in N africa, Normandy, and the Bulge. Sat at the table withe guys pulled in as Pattons noncom leiason post the Pass, and later. They were there because Patton knew they new how to survive. None of them liked Patton, Theyhated him. They had no glory for war and none became carear soilders. They cautioned against believeing what the military/government official line was and didn't trust command for the trurh.

I believe them and see that thier philosophy was right.

The dioxins, 24D and others, used in Vietnam were used in ricefields here in the US into the 90s. Different formulations but same effects. With the approval of the government of course. The stuff would drift for miles, lift up in conversion clouds and settle some where else, my neighborhood or yours. Would leave a line of dead  or deformed vegitation that  could be trackedfor miles.
