Forming GNR cases from 405 Winchester
« on: July 04, 2010, 02:54:26 PM »
The 378 and 350 from the 405 looks easy enough.... On the other end the 257 looks like a pretty good jump... Does it size easy in one step? I have a bad memory of trying to make 256 WM from 357 brass.. I'm thinking I'll be holding at least a 378 GNR and 338 GNR size dies so taking the neck down in steps will be easy enough.. Might be just the excuse I need to buy a 350, 8mm, 310, and 280 GNR...

The excuse sounds good to me and I guess most guys would agree.

But will it fly with "She Who Must Be Obeyed" (Sorry Rumpole), spouse, partner, whatever they are called?

Just like buying shoes....  If I buy ten barrels off the sale list at $25 off for barrels and $15 off dies I've saved enough to buy the 11th barrel and die set at full price..  What wife wouldn't understand that logic?   ;D

Picked up 8 pounds of H4350 on the way home from work. Pulled in the drive and see two packages on the back porch... A USPS from CPE and a UPS From Gary Reeder.... Little 280 GNR barrel looks good! 280 GNR dies in the box with! 200 pieces of 405 brass look good too! Could use the lack of a 310 size die to stay on hold for the 280 but that won't wash with the 375 and 338...

Finally got to hold a 405 case beside a 444 case... The book says the 405 is .385 longer..  It is...

Guess I'd better get ready for at least a 310 GNR.... Was able to hold back when the 257 was on the sale list but all that bought me is full price when I do buy one... 200 More pieces of brass will cover the 350 GNR, 8mm GNR, and 257 GNR and leave me 50 extra for the one I like the best!

I'll be loadng at least 378 & 338 now...  310 dies could be here today!
