.303 Enfields
« on: July 04, 2010, 03:13:37 PM »
Has anyone seen any .303 Enfield rifles in excellent to
mint condition for sale lately? If so, what is the current
market value?

Thanks,
Rifle Man

Funny you should ask that question. For about two years of gun shows I have only seen one nice enfield. Long Branch and nice shape. Have seen a lot of bubba's that ran the gamut from really nice to take it apart for the parts. Frank

Classic Arms just got in some No.4 Mk.1's at $240. It seems like only yesterday I got one from them for $170. But that was before you know who got elected and drove all the prices up.

I also just picked up a No.5 for $230 in a private sale, pays to look in the papers sometimes.

LOL I think it was WE who drove the prices up.

It was no longer being able to find them that drove the price up.
The value of a really nice one can be quite high. I traded a pristine
T3 last week for a 16 ft Bass Boat. He no longer needed the boat
and he wanted the rifle. Deal was made and we both are happy.
(he just bought a 21 foot pontoon boat) . I am going to give him a .302
ford engine I have in the shop too that he has been wanting.
Just to be nice.

Keep looking on Gunbroker.com and Gunsamerica.com
I recently picked up this beautiful #1MKIII there for a great price.

Bob,
That is indeed a beautiful...beautiful No.1 Mk III !
Would you like to "throw a little hint" as to the price
paid? A "ball park" figure will suffice. Now, after having
seen yours I have an itch that must be satisfied. I
hope to acquire one SOON.

Kindly,
Rifle Man

$350 Rifle Man. They are out there. Just keep an extremely close eye on GB and GOA and be ready to move
quick.

I had a No.4 once. I really liked the rear sight it had.

Brian Dick is one source for very nice Lee Enfields:  http://www.bdlltd.com/

Another is Dennis Kroh at Empire Arms:  http://www.empirearms.com/  Dennis has a 'want list,' where you tell him what you're looking for and what you're willing to pay, and he notifies you when he finds something you might be interested in.

Both are highly recommended.
