Extractor question
« on: July 05, 2010, 09:34:20 AM »

I need a new extractor for a highly modified Mauser rifle.

 Will a 96 extractor fit a 93 or 95 bolt?

 Thanks for any help.

I don't have access to my Kuhnhausen manual at this time, but from memory I am going to say no. I believe they are a different length.

No, you need a M93/95 extractor for either of those Mausers.

I may have a spare but I won't be home until next week. PM me next week to remind me and I'll send you one if I have an extra.

Thanks for the input fellows. The problemis not that simple. The action is a 98(FN):the bolt has been shortened at the front back to the face then counter bored to smaller case head dimensions (.422)(30 Rem).  A regular 98 extractor is too long and the claw of the extractor will not reach the case rim. Custom extractors are available where you cut the claw to match the case head size;I've tried the one for a 98;doesn"t work. One is also made for the 96, I was trying to determine if it might work( I have a 95 extractor;it looks like it is shorter and might work except for the claw length) that's why I asked about the 96 extractor on a 93/95 bolt. I'm a sucker for old, odd, wildcat rifles, that's how I got into this situtation.(the rifle is in 219 Donaldson Wasp Rimless)

Thanks again for your input,
