Those useing Yahoo Mail? Back to classic. Thanks, eddiegjr
« on: July 05, 2010, 02:42:34 PM »
The change that showed up on my system this weekend is a pain. Can't BCC , have to scroll back and forth to read messages. can't clean up messages to forward them. Is slower to respond and slower in tasking.

They are so concerned with advertising and tracking that they have about taken my low power small screened laptop out of the game.

Anyone know of a email carrier system that might be better?

The new program showed up several months ago when my computer went belly up.  When I brought my old one on line the new e-mail program automatically came on.  I was able to switch back to "Yahoo Classic" the old program.  Then when I bought my new computer, again it automatically defaulted to the new Yahoo.  Again I was able to switch back to Classic.  I also do not like the new Yahoo Mail.  Rog

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Mine hasn't changed and I hope it doesn't. I spent alot of time customizing the myYahoo page and I like it alot. I have the classic version. They have tried to get me to try the new version but I don't want to change a thing. I like Yahoo best. I tried google and have a hotmail account for unimportant stuff and I don't like either as well as yahoo. Actually I hate hotmail/windows, but I need a junk mail account. I hear too much stuff about Google privacy issues and working with the government on net neutrality and stuff. The short time I used it I didn't like it as good as yahoo. The spam controls and other stuff work better for me. See if you can do what Sourdough did.

Yahoo mail lately has more spam than anything else.  Mostly advertisements.  I have a Yahoo mail account--the free version.  My default email, though--the one I give to my friends and to very few business websites, is Thunderbird.  The Thunderbird anti-spam setup, called Junk Mail, really works well.  Rarely, if ever, does anything get through it, and if it does, you can label it as "Junk" and never see it again.  It's free, too--and works a lot like an improved Outlook Express.

How do you tell what version of Yahoo you have? Mine doesn't say and nothing has changed. This is the one i give to people i don't really want to talk to. I also have Verizon and AOL. I give my AOL one to people i want to talk to. I don't use Verizon at all. I hate it.

On the Yahoo Mail page in the header where it says Yahoo Mail, under the word mail it says classic. Since I haven't tried the new one I couldn't tell you the difference between the two. Just that it says classic in the header.

I hated the new yahoo mail,  So i reverted back to classic and set them some feedbacking saying their new system looked like crap, was slow and generally sucked,  I'm still using yahoo mail and don't plan on changing anytime soon.  I also have a gmail acct that I haven't been on in for ever but since I started with yahoo I didn't really feel like changing and there it stood,  I also didn't really like the gmail layout/system.

Just curious about something.  If you already have Thunderbird, then why even bother with the $20 a year Yahoo +?  I use Thunderbird for most of my regular emailing, but keep the free version of Yahoo email.  I get about 40 new entries a day in my Yahoo spam folder.  I get no spam whatsoever in my Thunderbird account.  Thunderbird does work great, I agree, and it has an automatic junkmail feature.  But your statement makes me wonder if I'm missing something by what I'm doing, and not paying $20 a year to Yahoo.
