Spent a couple hours checking licks and ponds, things are really dry here in Oklahoma, and saw 19 deer. 14 does and yearlings and one forked horn. About dark I stopped in a clearcut and was pointing out a bare patch below us about 4-5 acres in size to my son. I told him to remember the spot because when the pines got up 15-20 foot tall he may be the only one left that knew it was there and I have seen dozens of bucks funnel through it. He began to question my intelligence and then gasped and pointed. 4 of the prettiest bucks you ever saw stepped out from behind a brush pile at about 150 yards away right in the middle of the bare patch. I bet he will remember where it is now. My son is 13, we scouted a little and talked about girls a little. My brother was with us. We had fun.
IT WAS A GOOD DAY!!
