SW 637 AIRWEIGHT
« on: July 06, 2010, 09:49:26 AM »
Bought me a 637 airweight 38 today. Been considering one for a while along with the kel tec p9. When I got to the dealer he showed me several guns. The p9, p11, LCR and the LCP. Oh and also the keltec 380. The kel tec p11 was ruled out quick, just to large to suit me. I have a 380 sw sigma already. Both rugers were nice, really liked the LCR. iT was very light and I was surprised that the trigger pull wasnt bad at all. Had all these guns laying on the counter and decided to go with the 637. I really liked the feel of it and I chose to go with the model that has a hammer. I just want the extra accuracy that I feel you get if you want to use it as a single action. I already have a charter 38 under cover so why I wanted another snub nose is beyond me. I guess because when I think of revolvers, I think of Smith &Wesson, who knows. I like a revolver cause I feel confident its gonna fire when I need it to. Nothing to break in or none of that. I got the gun for 449.00. Bought a holster and 2 boxes of ammo. Im really surprised though at how well I can carry this little snub comfortably in the front pocket of my jeans. It aint bad at all. Any way, guess I will fire a few rounds through it this afternoon. ;D

Wife has a 637 with lasergrips, shoots very well. I have a 638 with laser grips, does have a shrouded hammer so I can also shoot single action as well.
Both guns are great guns to carry and very accurate at self defense distances.

I have an original model 37 chiefs special airweight in 38spl that I bought in the 60's. I have carried it over 40 years in my front pocket. In single action, it will still do Pepsi cans at 25 feet. I have had to use it twice and both times it performed as required. I think you will be pleased with yours and it will last a lifetime. Enjoy.

Congratulations!  I prefer my snubbies to have a hammer too.  I had a 637 that I carried for a while, then I found a used 337 (very similar, Ti cylinder, even lighter) that was a pre lock gun so I sold the 637.
