Pro Hunter Hammer screw.........
« on: July 07, 2010, 04:58:23 PM »
I made a big mistake now I need to fix it. Tightning up my hammer screw I stripped it now I cant get it out unless I drill it out. My question is what size is that screw so I can see if I can replace it before I drill it out?

you may have stripped the hole(female). In that case you will have to drill it out a little and use a larger one-not the same size one. Keep your fingers crossed. If the screw is what is stripped you will have a hard time drilling it out because it will want to turn with the drill bit. Try to wedge(gently) something fine into the edge of the hole when you try to unscrew it or put pressure under the head of the screw as you try to remove it. Again, keep your fingers crossed.  Pat

Rite on HH1 but the female is not stripped its the head of the screw. Once I get the screw out I'm gonna need to replaced it so I'm wanting to know the screw specs.

Ok, now we know the problem, or should I say no problem. Just use a suitable bit and easyout. Take the screw to a good hardware store and replace it-job done.  Pat

I swapped mine out for a Torx head right after I bought it (couple years ago) but I believe it was a 6-48 screw...same as is used for the sights/scope bases.
