There are several in this thread, but the first is this one by Little Seacoast, which, like the others, does not show loading, but does show firing and cracker bang.

No.  24 will be going on a road trip in  March 2012.  The trip will route from Cut  Bank, over the hill to Kalispellthen St. Regis to Spokane and then down to the tri cities area of Washington.  From the tri-cities down to Oregon  and down the gorge to Portland , then down to Eugene and over to Florence. From Florence down to Medford and on into Corning, CA.  From Corning over the hills to  Nevada and down  through Las  Vegas to  Boulder City.  From  Boulder City straight north on highway 93 to Challis Idaho.

I think Intodeep is in the Las Vegas area, anyone else along the route.  Anybody know of any cannons along that route?

Has anyone drove highway 93  north for Boulder City to Idaho in  March?

DD,

Yes, I'm in that area.  As for driving the 93 North in March. I cannot help you there. I have never been up that way in March. Also, if you are coming across the way of Reno then there may be a cannon in the Carson City area. Last I knew it was in the Nevada State Museum (it's the Fremont cannon). However, I can not confirm this as I have not seen it personally.

If you are going near Boise there are 3 cannons there. I can give you those detail if needed.

Well it was, and still is, my intention (yes, the road is paved....) to do so.  But before I do that I've got to get/make a wrench to get that #10 nipple out.  All that's available here are #11's.

Thirteen skunks two 'possums and a few odd other critters have interupted as well.

It would be a good link to post on ebay when selling such an item ....

Have you ever drove hwy 93 north ever?  Will I find gas stations?

Time depending I may make a effort to get to Carson City.

When time gets closer, I will touch base with you.

 DD,

The furthest I've ever gone on it is about 148 miles to Caliente. They have gas stations there.  ;D

Guys, I hope what I am about to write does not cause any ill feelings especially for SeaCoastArtillery who put so much into these wonderful pieces and offered us the first cannons under $300. I have not been able to fire my #13 because I have been unable to get powder, fire crackers or other accessories needed. I would have to go out of state but have not made it a priority and so the beautiful work of art and history sits. Ordinarily I would be delighted to have this gorgeous cannon as a knick-knack but it is wrong to leave it at that. Not only that, being a complete novice I think the cannon is more than I could handle with the loading etc. I know nothing about it. Being unemployed I am considering selling the cannon. I hope this post is not removed because I'm not trying to sell it in this post. I am only asking all of you who appreciate this cannon so much, as I do, and also I am asking SeaCoastArtillery, if there is a right way to go about it. My loss would definitely be someone elses gain. #13 is the larger bore. Any thoughts?

I do not think any one and especially Seacoast Artillery expects any one to keep their guns for ever, we might...Life brings to many obstacles. Guns, even firecracker cannons are often the easiest thing to sell when $$$ are needed.

Take it a to a gun show and try and sell it. Consider what the very least  you can afford to sell the gun for.  Make that your bottom line price.  Soot in his Ebay auction has set $300 as his bottom line price.  He is hoping for more.  At the gun show ask $1000.  Yes, $1000.  Do not expect to get $1000 but do not take less than your bottom line figure.  Offer it for the $1000 and let someone make a counter offer.  Negotiate.  When they counter offer even if they meet the bottom line figure you have in mind, you come down some, let them come up some, go back and forth.

Watch Pawn Stars on History channel and see the fine art of haggling at its best.

Or since we have one of these up on EBay right now, put it on Gunbrokers or auction arms and auction it off there.

You can also put it on or classifieds with a flat price to sell.

Thanks DoubleD - very good suggestions. I will try to find the one in ebay and watch to see what happens with it. I searched ebay for "black powder cannon" and "fire cracker cannon" and found plenty of items but no Krupp's - will search with Krupp as search word. Thanks again. PS I just found the listing in ebay - and congrats to the seller - he has 1 bid for $300 with a couple days left!

Ex 49'er put a bid on it, so he's probably the one right now.  I'm hoping to see it go higher, because given the detail, I think it can easily command more on the open market if the right people see it.

It's unfortunate when people have to sell off nice things, but unfortunately, it's the nice things that have value, and the ones that are luxuries are the first things to be sold when finances demand it.  I don't think anyone would be offended by it.  There are certainly some such things that I'd consider selling, but limited production items like this or my Morko would be the sort of things I'd probably be very hesitant to get rid of.

I agree.  Most of what I own has been purchased 2nd hand from others that NEEDED the cash or off-loaded execss.

It is a hard thing sometimes.  A friend showed me a MAGNIFICENT watch that his father traded for a piece of bread - in Germany just post WWII.

Bidding is over $500 and I'm still outbid. Limited Edition status and Seacoast Artillery pedigree might have something to do with the high bidders bid. I'd like to see it stay in the family.

First of all, we are sorry to hear about your unemployment situation, Skip.  We wish you well.  Anyone who can create a Krupp unwrapping video with as much humility and good humor, has to be a pleasant and talented individual.  We see success in your future.

Is it getting interesting to us?  You be the judge when we tell you that Mike is having visions of vacations to exotic places and Tracy is dreaming about having  a ½ scale, 15th Century,  Great Turkish Bombard, the ‘Dardanelles Gun’ cast in bronze and bored by a shop with really big equipment.  The original shot stone balls of 25.2” dia.  Fort Pallet look out!

Seriously though, the sales price of Soot’s or Nematoad’s  Krupp will have very little to do with our eventual pricing of the next cannon in the small seacoast gun series.  Don’t worry, the auction prices on these guns will have about as much to do with the planned Rodman Gun price as the amount of slowing of the earth’s rotation due to an Infantryman’s running in an easterly direction after having thrown a ‘willie peter’ grenade in a westerly direction!  If you ever have occasion to do this, complete overhead cover will prevent you from being “hoisted by your own petard”.

Future pricing will have a lot more to do with the level of income we are trying to attain.  Will we try to make an hourly wage equal to a ditch digger in Guatemala like last time or will we shoot for a wage closer to what an entry level ‘Lot Associate’  at Home Depot makes in Colorado, about $9.00 per hr.?

Time will tell.
