Can anyone tell me about this round?  Is it commercially available or hand load only?
Thanks.

At one time I think RP loaded both 120 and 140 grain bullets as factory ammo. May still do. Check the Remington web site to be sure. It is roughly the equal of the 7-30 Waters which in my opinion is an excellent hunting round for handguns.

tappel,

I'm not sure if Remington still sells 7br or not I did a quick look and did not see any. This is a cartridge made for a handgun. Graybeard is right about it being close to the 7-30Waters. Remington loaded a 140gr PTD soft pt that shot around 2175fps out of my contender. I don't remember the length of the barrel 13 or 14". It was an SSK barrel and shot beautifully. It was a little too much for the Contender in my opinion so I gave it to a friend who really liked it. If you already have it or can get a great deal on it enjoy. If not you might be happier with the 7-30Waters. Reloading components are available for either cartridge.
