I have had several rimfires in my day, most all required some work to make them shoot good groups, some of them never did! I have had 3 remingtons and none of them required work to shoot groups that was ok by my standards. I still have a 541S that is a great shooter, (no work). I would like to see "big green" make a bolt action rimfire AGAIN. CZ seems to be the rifle of choice now in my neck of the woods. I have one of the varmint models, (jury still out on this one)........... WAKE UP REMINGTON AND SMELL THE GUNSMOKE!..........

I recently read that Remington will introduce a new bolt action 22 LR  rimfire rifle next year. It's supposed to run in the $700 range. Here's the website that it came from: http://rimfirecentral.com/forums/index.php

I have a ruger 10/22 that I'm quite partial to, but I have never had a gun that shoots as well as an old remington model 514 of my dad's. I'm trying to find one that's in good shape and priced right.

I received their (Remington's) email and they mention that indeed a new 22rimfire bolt rifle for 2004!!!  Still love my 541S, but am interested to say the least.

What do you guys pass for accurate in a .22 rifle?  I've been shooting an old Rem 580 (single-shot bolt) with a 4X Weaver for years.  Seems to group within 3/4" at 75 yards or so with ordinary Rem ammo...

Not a "fine" rifle by any means.

I think the best built .22 I've owned was a Winchester 9422 Legacy.  At the time the Rem 580 cost me $75 and the Win was over $250 I think.  

I'm not sure I'd pay $700 for another .22 unless it was collectable - like a nice early Marlin lever action.

I have never seen a "Production" 22LR that I would
pay $700.00 for!!!
I have never met one that would shoot any better than
my model 67 Winchester that I paid about 60 dollars
for "way back a few years ago"

Have seen A few custom jobs maybe that I would pay that for though.
